Jesus most lads with a new baby would be happy to have a dog to work.

just if it means getting out for a few hours here and there

We had a new baby a few months ago and i done the opposite

i got another pup,and some of the best time me and the the kids have is out and about with the dogs.

it's simple 9 times out of 10 it's the bird putting her foot down and saying get rid of the dog.

Having a baby is not meant to be the end of your life ,it's meant to be a new chapter

having working dogs is not a hobby it's a way of life and if you cant fit them in with having children you shouldn't have them in the 1st place

I must be the odd one lol.

But the midwifes face when she came to check the baby and all the dogs sat around was priceless.

She even asked when I would be rehoming the dogs!

It's not just lurchers and terriers that get passed about, someone in my birds family have had over 10 pet dogs in 4 years and about 5 cats too and that's just ones i know of. I think some people can't help themselves when trawling the ads on the net.

i bet the house smelled a dream :bad::thumbs:

I'm with reddawn on this one.

I thought my dogs were the most important things in my life(...after the wife of course...sorry dear...didn't see you reading over my shoulder) until my son was born. I now have a three year old son and a daughter on the way in three months. I have three dogs aged 12, 8 and 4. The eldest and youngest are great with my son but the middle one only likes me and her two kennel mates. For reasons that I won't go into in detail, we've decided to try to rehome her (that's rehome: not sell). We decided about 2 years ago and she's still with us...understandably, nobody wants an eight year old bitch who doesn't like other people or other dogs. :whistling: In the meantime she's still kenneled outside with the other two and comes inside during the evening after my son's gone to bed and they very rarely come into contact...it's simply not worth the risk.

I have a 6 month old daughter, unfortunately I had to get rid of my 2 bullxs but my daughter had f**k all to do with it and I've now got a pup sorted. It tooks me months to come to terms with the fact they had to go and I'm still regretting it now but it was for the best and I know the new owners will do the best by the dogs. Both dogs were single handed dogs that had they been on here people would have put prices of 400 or something silly but I gave them away as I know where they are now. That's the problem to many people sell dogs when the circumstances just require rehoming.

i'd get rid of my dogs if i couldn't house them outside and had a kid.

but then i'd probably not have a dog in the house anyway.

I think the point is that you shouldn't need to put the dog outside. I am not saying you should trust a dog with a baby, I certainly wouldn't 100% but there is no reason to ever leave them alone so there shouldn't be an issue.

I might start taking out my annoyance in the for sale section from now on, someone has to shame them

Didn't think people needed an excuse these days , just get rid regardless judging by the amount punted on here :hmm:

Yes, unfortunately dogs in today's society are seen as disposable. Sad really. I hope people take better care of their kids than they do their poor dogs.

well theres clearly not enough thought put into it , folks take on dogs a lot of the time on a whim or simply on impulse , seems to me from what i have seen on forums like this is folks just breed for the sake of breeding, most of the dogs wont be any good because the clueless breed & thats all there is to it, most cant give the pups away anyway

How many times have we read '' dog for sale not got time to bring it on'' my answer to that is what the hell did you have the dog for in the first place , madness

another of my favorites is '' bitch due to break down in a months time stud wanted'' , absolulty no thought gone in to it, any old scrag end will do as long as theres a litter at the end, a litter they can not give away because there wormy & usually in bad nick

Good breeders breed & have homes lined up years before the dogs are mated , a fully fit bitch will pup with ease & a properly looked after animal will bring on a litter of pups with ease , quality pups dont need punting on here they sell themslves & most are gifted anyway , so no money involved
