ste68blue 8
Hi all, i am considering buying a shotgun to do a little clays and rough shooting and when discussed it with the missus she is very against having one in the house. I have got the form to apply for my certificate and i need to ask a few questions...how do the rules work for me to store my gun in someone elses cabinet? If i fill the form in how do i say that i wouldn't be storing the gun in my premises or would i be able to store it at my work premises? Hope all that makes sense? I appreciate any help or advice anyone can offer Cheers Stephen Quote Link to post
paulus 26
theres a section on the application that asks where your going to store it, just fill in where you intend to store it Quote Link to post

TWOTWOTHREE 152
Hi ste Should be ok storing it at work if it's secure or share with a mate, but what a ball ache everytime u want to go for a blast. Can't u convince the mrs to let u keep em at home,is it the fact that she thinks they are dangerous or that the kids may tamper? I remember my mum saying I don't want them bloody things I'm my house 17 years ago,I said I don't like that draw full of rolling pins and that knife block sat on the work top with the 9 inch carving nice stuck out.as I explained there was more chance of someone being hurt by them lying about the kitchen than my shotguns as I'm the only one with access and my young brother couldn't have messed with them,it's been the same through my life as I have a young family and unless any of them can read minds the pin number to my ammo safe and guns Is going to the grave with me, safe as houses, talk her round mate, I know the women breed are stubborn lol Atb 223 Quote Link to post
jackinbox99 41
A lot of women are like this tho. My gran wouldnt let guns in her house, which was a bit of a bind as a lot of my uncles (her sons) were farmers. Likewise, one of my mates wont her her bloke have guns in their house - so he keeps his in his mates cabinet. Luckily my missus doesnt have a say in the matter although she has but a stop to me shooting poor helpless little bunnies atm. The only thing a firearms officer said to me is that if you keep it in a mates cabinet and he has guns in there too, then all guns should be on both peoples certificates, as each person has access to them. Not sure how correct that is, but that is what he told me. Best to speak to your local FAO and see what they say. Quote Link to post

ste68blue 8
Hi guys, just a quick update... Today i rang our fire arms officer and spoke to a very helpful lady, i asked about possibly being able to house a cabinet at my work premises and her response was that the only time the gun can not be housed at the owners home is under "extreme circumstances" and unfortunately my missus not liking guns in the house is not deemed as extreme enough. Also i asked about the possibility of being able to house a gun in a friends cabinet and what she said was that if i were to do that i would also need access to the persons house in case they were not in when i returned to put the gun back in the cabinet, so that becomes a little awkward too... I need to start working on the missus.... Thanks for all your help and advice with the matter Cheers Stephen Quote Link to post
