Brimmer 220
Not much to say or show chaps, but out again today as usual, hail or shine. Hit the slopes again, on some land I last got the priveledge of ferreting around 15 yrs ago. We have always had the opportunity of doing it, but one or two 3 foot rocky digs to large fast hobs put my old feller and his buddy off back then. Soft twots. As the numbers dwindle in the usual haunts, its amazing what you can talk a geriatric 72 yrs old into! Even he now can see there is more to rabbiting than running dogs, shallow digs, no nets and easy bolts! Started off slow, with only 1 bolt from a a 20 hole net up, resulting in a half recovered mixi, great! These are big, very old spread out warrens on tricky slopes, the old feller said just put the ferrets in. I did, and the rabbits with a probably % chance of escape did so with no nets on them. Back to netting up, there's only one way in certain places, and bolting to the dogs is not an option. Dont get me wrong, the dogs ended up with a few kills off these slopes, but the ferrets and nets were the key today. Two albino jills were took out today, Princess and b*****d. Princess ended up getting the crown kicked off her today, with b*****d sticking to the job in faultless fashion, never giving an inch, and engaging full tilt with every bit of fluff she came across. Everything getting the specsavers treatment or bolting. (mainly bolting.) Had to go the extra mile to get no 20 today, but after a short walk uphill at around 1pm, the dogs nailed it on an extreme uphill slope. We called it a day then. Still tmoz to go at yet. stroller 341
i have a bit on the side of a quarry its almost vertical cant work the dogs as the quarry is 100 foot deep and it puts the shits up me, i wont even use the ferrets on some sets as they are too close to the edge. Good sport with the shotguns but i prefer the nets and dog. its quieter more natural and a lot more deadly than my shooting Quote Link to post
