Koi carp - lancashire

Recommended Posts

Anybody know anything about koi carp. The girl friend lost her dad a few weeks ago and has now got to sort his house out and he had a pond full of koi carp. Now she wants them to go to a good home because the old chap thought the world about his fish and I want to make sure she dosnt get ripped off by anyone. Where do I start?

Try ringing holmeswood koi, they might be able to help. Price or relocate them. I wouldn't recommend shifting them this time of year though unless their in heated water?

Never thought of that, they are in cold water. Dont really have time to keep an eye on the filter and pumps etc so wanted to relocate them soon as poss. dont suppose they will need much looking after in winter tho.

I keep koi and moving this time of year is a bad idea :nono: i would go to your local fish supplier and ask there help .pending on what he has there might be some moneys worth ,but do some research first . as there are plenty of people who will take a 3ft char goi (breed) off you tell you its worthless but reality is it could be worth £2000+ its all age dependant .

Google British Koi Keepers Society (BKKS). There will be a section local to you - ask their advice, most are hobbists and would be glad to help and advise you on your options and what is best for the fish. Ask if they would come and assess the situation. Winter/Spring can be a tricky time for the fish.
