littlefish 587
I bet that made it feel worthwhile what you did out of kindness and decency. It was a family pet. Well done.

Malt 379
Nice one Ross! Death is part of life, and having had to go though the whole cycle of grief & come to terms with the loss, that little girl will have learnt one of life's most important lessons. She wouldn't have been able to do that if you hadn't brought the dog back..

RossM 8,149
Aye she very nearly had me going the wee bugger! Lol, how many 6 year olds would think to sit and write a thank you card out? Especially given the situation behind it, and to talk openly about it and address the fact, very thoughtful and mature of such a young individual, my missus had a wee greet when she read it, I just hope the Cnut that was willing to leave the dog for dead and not report it has a hefty repair bill on his motor! As she was leaving she asked if it was ok to come round anytime and see my dogs lol,
Flick75 32
Oh bless her. My husband once got a similar letter from an old lady in our village. Some blokes had set their Lurchers on her cat in the field behind her cottage...he heard a commotion as he was checking the horses, so ran over. These idiots thought it was funny to set the dogs on her cat. The old lady was shouting and crying, but could only watch in horror. My husband got the dogs off, but there was nothing he could do for the cat, he was dead, ripped to bits. He wrapped him up in his jumper, sat with her and called her daughter to come over, then buried the cat there and then for her. He buried his jumper too...he didn't want her to see what a state the cat was in. She sent him a lovely letter, she was a widow and the cat was her companion. It was 13. He doesn't often cry, but he did shed a tear when he read her letter.
