Flick75 32
It wouldn't be unknown for the so called 'animal rescue' people to lie through their teeth to stop a working dog being returned to its rightful owner. Years ago, I knew someone who had 3 lurchers stolen, one was an 11 year old retired bitch. The dog warden was informed of its whereabouts, but never logged it or reported it as she thought it would be better off with the family that found it! It took an unbelievable stroke of luck and some heavy threats before this dog warden admitted knowing where the dog was. Bloody righteous horrible people some of them are. Yes, have found this to be the case too. Some rescues like Lurcher Link are superb and Kaye who runs LL is very knowledgeable. However, some of these Lurcher 'rescues' are a joke...they have no knowledge or experience of the breed and no 'informed' opinion of a good working home. I would demand to see the dog too....I'd also call your local police station and advise them of your intention....that way, if the rescue woman does kick off and refuse you entry, you have the law on your side and there's sod all she can do about it. The very best of luck in finding your bitch. 5 Quote Link to post

chartpolski 25,925
I wonder how many dogs stolen here in the Uk end up in Ireland, and vice versa ? Two year ago, I got the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin, with two of my dogs and did a bit of coursing over there, and not one check of my passport, what I had in the motor, etc, nothing !! Either direction !! Eire is, after all, a foreign country, why is there no Immigration or Customs checks ? I'm not complaining, it makes travelling over there much easier, but also for the theives !! Cheers. Quote Link to post
redcharge 379
You definately need to look at that dog mate or perhaps get somebody in the area to have a look for you !!!!! The slag will be tarr-ing you with the same brush as the c**ts that abandoned the dogs and would much sooner see the dog go to a nice family than being kept outside or ending up with someone who would abandon them again. If you get stuck PM me its a fair bit away from me but I do pass through there now and then Edited January 14, 2012 by redcharge Quote Link to post

They never seemed to show an interest in the lurchers though Quote Link to post

They never seemed to show an interest in the lurchers though There was over 20 of us went over, mate, many of them members of this site, and not one of us were checked, in either direction ! I was judging the Whippets at Birr, and there was everything for sale there, from game birds to terriers to lurchers ! If I'd known how easy it was, I would have brought a few birds back with me, (the feathered kind,! LOL !). Perhaps we were just lucky ? There was a raffle at the show and first prize was a .303 Lee Enfield, I asked the organiser if I would have to show my FAC if I won, he said "NO" !! Imagine getting stopped with that in the back of the car, returning from Ireland !! LOL !! Cheers. Quote Link to post

Gos 4
i dont honsetly think shell be in one, think she was stolen to order to run or to breed. thnk she ended up in wales Quote Link to post
doe 30
Gos, you will have to get some one else to call saying she is a pet and the house is empty without her. Joking aside, if any of you think you know whos they are and call the rescue don't mention "working" or kennels. Quote Link to post
