Hard Mouthed pup

Recommended Posts

got an email and photos early December of a fella who had a pup last year, was catching rabbits but was hard mouthed and sounds like its recall was shit too.

Anyhow last night hes phoned to say he wants rid and did I want it back - I've not got the room but a lad who had one of my other pups is taking it on. Once its spoiled is there anyway of sorting it back out - I know the recall can be sorted but what about being hard mouthed? Shame really.

Sensible advise please?

I suppose there could be ways of curing the problem, all depends what you do with your game, I had a Bedlington x Greyhound that was hard mouthed, and would bruise the Rabbits, i know its not desirible, but as i just fed my rabbits to the dogs and ferts i wasnt to bothered, as she was a good catcher and marker, so worth her salt in other ways.

thanks for the replies. I thought if they were hard mouthed there wasn't alot you could do tbh.

My bitch pup brings em back live to hand and we do eat them but the lad who's having this one only feeds his rabbits to dogs or ferrets so isn't bothered. I'll try and get a pic up later - its the male double of my bitch - nice dog - hope it comes good.

JUST KEEP WITH THE RECALL THE TRY TO GET HIS RETREIVING PERFECT AND IF HE BITE DOWN HARD JUST PUT BARBED WIRE AROUND THE DUMMY AND HE WONT BE BITTING DOWN AGAIN!! I TRYED THIS AND WORKED ON MY OLD BITCH.I WAS TOLD BEFORE BUT I NEVER TRIED IT TO PUT A BALLON IN THE DUMMY AND IF HE BITES HARD ENOUGH HE WILL BURST THE BALLOON AND GET A FRIGHT!TRY IT OUT MIGHT WORK! GOOD LOOK ANYWAYS

That sounds like a perfect way to get it to refuse to touch a dummy. Have you ever had a dog???

Barbed wire, drawing pins, just find a home with someone that feeds catch game to Dogs and ferts.

and it wont matter about bruising, next thing someone will put a post up, of a dummy that delivers an electric shock. :whistling:

youve got an idea there joe :D :D :icon_redface:;)
