matt32 44
Probably the most memorable was my dog catching 3 deer in one session with a chap of here, the other was my dogs first daytime deer wich he hunted up from a field awaythen flushed from a copse i didnt see much of the run but when i came over the brow of the hill and seen him tackling the roe on the winter wheat field with the green of the shoots and the hills in the background on a cold sunday morning it was a sight i and a feeling i will take to the grave with me it also got me into daywalking rather than just lamping. 1 Quote Link to post
boyo 1,398
best nites ive had i wouldnt put it up here and never thought of taking a camera leave that for the posers and amatuers lol whin the post wasnt about how much game is caught it was about the best day or night s pleasure you have had with one of your dogs it doesnt have to be huge bags to be the best time . could be on a stroll with your mutts , racing ,showing, or a brillian trun and quarry got away . sometimes on here people can be a bit paranoid to say the least and if its pre ban it was legal or most of it was . 3 Quote Link to post
boyo 1,398
the other time that sticks in my mind was with the best lurcher i have ever owned by far bella a little 23 inch powerhouse who only had one gear flat out lol she caught a load of rabbits a big fallow and a charlie .this was in about 2003 so pre ban of course .i have had much bigger bags but not of the quality of riunning on this particalar day she caught all this in just under 2 hours and was like a magnet on whatever she ran .its days and nights like this that make it all worthwhile and stick in your mind forever .they certainly help you forget the poxy times when nothing seems to go right and vets bills and fines seem never ending lol.and please note this was in 2003 so PREBAN. hellyer189 93
The best day for me was when we caught our first rabbit, only the one no big numbers but that was it for me, and it will be the same when the pup is ready an gets his first catch that to me will mean more than any big pot!! 1 Quote Link to post
skycat 6,174
I've had so many days out that stick in my memory, but two stand out: one where a little 22" bitch of mine won the S/H trophy in our club, catching 3/4 in the comp and another later in the same day. She was all blood and guts and thunder: up and at 'em. The hare she lost made it to an earth in the side of a dyke. Moments later she was slipped on another in the same field, which also headed for the same earth, but she knew what it wanted and ran to cut it off, catching it just before it made the earth. She was one hell of a dog on anything, and sadly, not long after, died doing what she loved best. The other red letter day which I treasure was watching an old bitch, 9 or 10 years at the time, catching her first ever Chinky on a massive field of rape. The course was as good as a run on a hare and it almost beat her (she wasn't 100% fit), but she hung on to take it well at the edge of a dyke. She'd only ever had munties before then. And at the same time she caught her Chinky, her two pups went off on another, the first they'd ever seen, and made short work of it. The best night I've had was another bitch catching 3 foxes on the lamp, despite almost drowning in a river with the first one. And all this within half a mile and within an hour, not to mention a couple of rabbits between foxes. LOL 3 Quote Link to post

6pack 60
No big bags to brag about. My best day was the very first time out. Was never expecting the Borzoi to be of much, she was more use to prancing in the show ring. The blokes we were out with kept saying 'she's pretty isn't she!' But she took ok to ferreting, Did her bit, a fabulous retrieve live to hand. Saw her do what she was meant to do and we both came home exhausted and soo happy 2 Quote Link to post
