whin 463 Posted January 10, 2012 Report Share Posted January 10, 2012 well sunday morning up sharp get the pup minni and anmate out to get a few for the dinner , we went to a fence line bordering the railway rough going an d still got netteles about, so of we go minni stats marking i looks about hole every were , what the hell , i put into dog ferrets anfd ayoung bitch , nothing much then the yongest dog ferret is on abit of rattling back and forth , out comes the old grey box i bought of another fellow dog man , clickclik goes the tick lol, 2 feet easy dig but there not settling to one spot so leav ehim to get on with it, i put the other ferrets in further along , a bolt , woosh , minni sees him , she jumps afence rabbit runs along track shees on him quick , snatches it before it gets to the next warren a race for the ages ,and back to me with pup tormenting her a bit , we dig down get ferret all made up land , we move to next warren put the dog ferret in with young bitch ,shees startin to go now lke her old grand mother i had and grand father , good worker to worker , five minutes pass then a bit rumbling but no bolts i pull the dogs back leash up pu , minni relaxes and takes abetter stance i get a mark shallow again , rattle about with astick at a pop hole rabbit bolts woosh as fast as an express train he makes five yards on the dog but not ten in the bag anoither good bolter , , we move on dogs marking , several holes but two are jioned on together put old dog ferret in hees got a grip fighting up and down ,rumbling, shallow ground , rabbit bolts into grass a sneaky hole dog never even saw it , so i get dog ferret in again this time shees on top with pup waiting 5 minutes go by, rabbit makes a bolt but 3 yards its caut , pup done well no distractions , we move on i see a white ass bounding away i rugby tackle dog as it was never going out run her ,some walkers had disturbd them , lol a good day had by all mate takes the four rabbs i slip him a brace of grouse he goes home happy,had arite go on the rabbits never ever big numbers but consistant as its a stones throw away ,took a good head over the festive period but always no more than ten but never used a net yet and made some but there will be a day for the webs and pegs adios no pictures but no lies , Quote Link to post

Used to do a lot of the railways local on Sundays as the trains didn't run then, a few years ago they opened the line up as a passenger line, so its out of bounds now. Used to have some good days bolting rabbits from the stacks of railway sleepers. Quote Link to post

whin 463 Posted January 10, 2012 Author Report Share Posted January 10, 2012 its plenty for pup as once shees up sheel be at a diffrent job but good to get them started young and learn ,shees six month now jumpimg wire watching holes and learning next stubble s will be her time , very calm and no getting exited and she knows whtas asked now just get her fetchng spot on jumping with confidece abit obeidence , and then its up to her when the games on, as there no calvary mate Quote Link to post

whin 463 Posted January 11, 2012 Author Report Share Posted January 11, 2012 a mixture of good working lurcher to lurcher , a mixture of good dog to good dog originaly d slieght katie and mark chapmans bob a bit like collie lurcher bred to collie whippet greyhounds but very good ones , an dthen i bred my mates coursing champ to them and kept breeding them real clever dogs fast and good feet Quote Link to post
