Feck me! An 11 month old pup, all full of itself and wanting to hunt and folk want to put a shock collar on it.. Shame on you..!

Sounds like either you have a head strong pup, you didn't get your recall right, or maybe a bit of both. Though don't judge every dog by anothers standards, they may be both of the same cross but don't make the mistake of judging one dogs temperement off anothers, especially at that age.

Ask yourself as to why you went for a bull cross, where you not looking for prey drive and a desire to catch and kill? If that answer is yes then, simply go back to basics with your recall training and all training for that matter.

It's the same when you put in a shed full of retrieving training and your so pleased, then on catching it's first bunny, your dog fecks right off with it and does a war dance round the field..!

At that age a youngster can get a bit willful but its just that a youngster, so give it the opportunity, in the right enviroment, to still be a pup, to learn its fieldcraft and get in some good solid training too. All these three should be consistent in its life right now.

Best of luck mate. ;)

put some time into it im not having a dig mate but ive owened a lot of dogs and never had this problem you get out what you put in treat her when she comes to you build a bond and the main thing no violence violence will get you no were once the trust is gone you won't get it back good luck mate..

good advice that mate, training aint worth a shit without that bond imo.

my dog is the same for first run or two, he has too much drive for his own good so i always start my night on some not so good land near where i intend to work him just to get the first couple of silly runs out of him so he calms down and then onto the serious land so he doesnt ruin it all by running it all on the first run hunting after. he is getting better think a lot of it is down to me not getting him enough work and him still being young
