nashy 1 Posted January 8, 2012 Report Share Posted January 8, 2012 my old man has kept glens and wheaten s al his life he kept a pup back from a liter of glens but the dog keeps losing hair along his rib cages it,s been to the vet,s 4 times after they treat him for different thing,s it will grow again but will start to fall out again he,s sick now of taking him to the vet as the vet is really curious to what is doing it and keep,s sending the dog for skin scraps and blood tests but my old man is fitting the bill has any 1 had this problem before with glens any help would appreciated as he is thinking of putting the dog to sleep over this.. kirstysdad 827 Posted January 8, 2012 Report Share Posted January 8, 2012 try using benzo benzoate you can get it from the chemist or online very cheap rub it all over affected area the cause can be deit try feeding something new see if it makes a change or dog may be stressed how old is it kenneled on its own and as you said it was breed by yourselfs is it kenneled near but not with its mother this sometimes stress out young dogs but this is rare also bedding as someone already said but this would affect all your dogs normally good luck Quote Link to post Share on other sites
nashy 1 Posted January 8, 2012 Author Report Share Posted January 8, 2012 i read that on another post about mange gooey try that tomorrow he has already tried changing his diet thought it to much protein he is 14mth now kenneled on his own this started with the father to but he is giver cooked meat only now but this wont work with his pup he is in the same kennel as his father was it could be coming from there his bedding is a blanket if it is stress is there any way of treating it.his mother and father would live about 1 mile away. sallie 67 Posted January 9, 2012 Report Share Posted January 9, 2012 i have had a similar problem with my patterdale and started a thread on here last week. the vet test proved negative and it would seem it was stress, i have put her on aloevera juice to heal from the inside, ginger and camomile oil for calming. We also gave her a course of antibiotics. I have given her more individual attention and this seems to be working.
