Fox dogs

Recommended Posts

How does the wheaton x greyhounds compare with the bull crosses as out an out fox dogs? Most of the boys round here keep bulls for foxing so have seen polenty of the them working but have never seen any wheaton's working. From what ive heard they tend to have the same fire as the bulls and in some cases even more!? Could be the better option post ban cause the certanly look less suspicious that a a big bull x covered in bites   ?? Also they have the advantage of a thick coat and better feet?? How do they rate in the field though?? :search:

The coat of the wheatenx would be alot harsher/thicker then that of the beddyx imo.

Ive seen litters of almost all smooth and only for i knew the parents i wouldnt have beleived it myself.

Ive since seen a good few smooths, but crossed back to a greyhound or anything else for that matter and the coat becomes more present in the litters of the second cross wheaten lurchers.

Iv never owned one but my mates got a first cross weaton/greyhound which is very game. Never took foxes untill the ripe age of 4 though. But now one of the most reliable fox dogs iv seen. The first fox it was slipped on was on the lamp out of the back of the van, it ran straight at it, hit the f****r then turned round and ran back into the van :11: after that though it never looked back. :11:

Here is mine, he is really crap but that is down to me as I know nothing about anything.

He takes rabbits on the lamp and I have been told by those in the know that he is very fast, but I have had to train all the rabbits in Essex to run ONLY in straight lines, he is like a woman driver on corners.

He is just over two years old, so just a young un yet, he will go for foxes but obviously he knows its wrong and against the law. So he just has a chat and leaves them alone.

Here y'are lads, a couple of indoors pics of my Saluki/Grey/Wheaten x Bull/Grey pup Belle. She's five months old now, and marks rabbit holes strongly when we're walking about. Roll on September/October so I can put the ferret down and show her what its all about :hunter:

Sorry they're crappy pics, I'd get some out in the field but it'd normally only be the local park or the beach - I don't like hunting outside of 'season' JMHO.

This is her at...erm, 11 weeks I think this was.

Now this morning at five months:

Lazy arsed mutt LOL :haha: She's thrown strongly to the Wheaten, and take a look at that muzzle - it's the same width all the way down, virtually as big as her skull. Almost bullish but with wheaten whiskers ;) Can't wait to see how she does, she's 21/22" now.
