gasaxeman 167
would like to hear your opinions on the process and who believes that dogs that dont make the grade should be sent to the clouds so that only the best should reproduce just like days of old, its also a way of stopping the puppy farming and how many of you would have the swingers to let your beloved pet go if it was sh1t EG send it on the journey how do you determine what will make the grade at what age.?? as an example at what age are you saying a dog that does not make the grade should be put down.?? to be honest and do not take it the wrong way certain breeds and in some cases from the same litter some dogs/bitches would be slower or faster to mature than others.? how do you determine the grade and what do you mean by it.?its a daft question to be honest as my opinion is you only get out what you are prepared to put in, you may get a bad dog period.!!. but the majority of the time is it not the owners expectations or past experience of a previous dog that gives out the wrong impression. IE owd shep was catching rabbits at 9 months but flash is still fcking about and is still acting like a puppy. i think you would make a bad situation even worse by this type of attitude and the dogs homes etc are already full of peoples below par expectation dogs if they are willing to dump at the roadside what makes you think they will take them to the vets for a injection if wont do it now.?? they dont do it now and they will not do it in the future. the problem is when people read about 100 a nite catching machines they put 2+2 and get 5 thinking there dog should be doing it. thats why there is only 1 messi or ali or red rum they rarely use the same mould?? 3 Quote Link to post

gasaxeman 167
your wrong the vast majority of dogs are dumped thats why the dogs homes are full of them. if you as an individual are prepared to fork out the money for what you deem is a sub, standard working dog to be destroyed fair enough. but to think that other people will pay money to destroy there dogs when options like dumping them and bullshitting are available is naive to say at the least. why pay pay X amount to destroy a dog when you get away with paying SFA when you can dump it and actually get the chance to sell it to a gullable person bullshitting all the way its worth . and like i said how do you determine what is a sub standard dog?? its a daft topic or do you have a substandard dog[in your eyes] and require the forums aproval to get shut ?? like i said dogs and bitches mature learn at differant ages a lot like humans they all are not like peas in pods. you could give a rescue dog to some guys on here and while they may not turn into world beaters but would make the grade. and you could give the best breed dogs i would even go as far as a ready made world beater to some people and they would turn out bleeding awfull. Simoman 110
You can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.....BUT a huge percentage of lurcher lads can't be arsed to out the effort in and if a problem occurs.............get rid......dog needs time..............get rid..............dog didn't look right last night.......get rid.......i'd love to know how many good dogs have been passed along the lurcher merry go round and wasted and ruined living miserable lives because they didn't get a decent crack of the whip and entered correctly? moonlighter 1,163
So if you don't kill a dog that dosnt make the grade, then it's the anti in you..... What a load of shite some people spout on here. 1 Quote Link to post
whin 463
if a dog doesnt make the grade its easier to put to sleep or get areal good pet home , if it can be done Quote Link to post
paulus 26
if a dog doesnt make the grade its easier to put to sleep or get areal good pet home , if it can be done the problem is dear whin, people have no idea what the grade means in reality, some think its all to do with taking teeth, horn others 100 rabbits a night others retrieving to hand. the reality is its owners who dont make the grade, we all know lads who change dogs more times in a season than they do their pants because THEY DONT MAKE THE GRADE. load of bollocks, the lurcher game is that varried that not all dogs will suite each individual hunting requirements again this can be put down to the owner making a bad choice in choosing the cross he has for the requirements he wanted, the owner unable to train, enter correctly also contributes to not making the grade. so in theory would be better to cull the owners rather than the dogs. 8 Quote Link to post

doris 6
to be honest how many working lurchers are there out there that really make the grade. I would at a guess say 99% of lurchers are a pet 1st and working cur as a side piece. therefore silly post. Quote Link to post
Ossie n Arch 1,682
I never had Lurchers before Ossie walked up our drive 3 years ago. 18 Months later we got Tess. So my dogs are the best iv'e ever had and the worst. Bollocks, now what do i do ?? Ossies prey drive is spot on, too spot on some times. His recall and retrieve are suspect. Tess the opposite. So do i cull Ossie and keep Tess, or visa versa ?? Because in someone eles's eyes they're shit. Or do i just enjoy my dogs for what they are and live with what iv'e got ?? 5 Quote Link to post
