First light walk about (from a fair few years ago)

Recommended Posts

years ago, before the ban was put in place, me and the missus were asked to babysit the nephew so I gathered I would be up early. I decided that I would get a wee wander local first light to see if I could get a run at something. So as planned was up at 5:30 so got a cuppa and younger bitch ready and was out for half 7, by the time we walked to were I was going it was that funny light were if I had the lamp it would've been of use but of absolute no use if you know what I mean? Anyway walked the first bit and saw nothing, kept walking and saw two in the next field and I kinda wished I'd brought the older bitch as she would've saw them making way over fields and the younger bitch still hadn't learnt there's more about than what's in front of you.

Changed my route abit and managed to get myself and the bitch between one and cover in a hilly/bumpy field which provided enough a sort of covered approach up to him. I made up a bit ground and was pretty soon within 40 yards so I set the bitch off, he was pretty soon in shifting and had maybe 50yards of this field and a whole other one before he could reach safety, bitch made up good ground and was pretty much on terms a short bit into the next field, she put a turn in and what I can only describe as shoulder barged it and grabbed hold, she was in complete control by the time I arrived to dispatch humanely. it was a decent run and for a heavier built bitch she fairly shifted and made ground well was chuffed for her as it was her first real daylight run, I took him up to the wood he was heading for and removed it's innards and hung him up to be picked up the next day and filled the freezer for a short while,

Thought I'd share this story from the past with you all, thanks for reading.
