Rabbithunter 456
Just wondering, can i use ceramic floor tiles as a hearth for a log burner? seen some decent ones, quite cheap aswell. if not, then i'll just use sandstone, will need a couple of slab's though, what would i fill the join's in with? cement? cheers

paulus 26
cheers, do you know if i can use ceramic floor tiles as a hearth? thanks would have thought they wouldnt last long as the first time you drop a log or anything heavy on them they would crack, get yourself some nice fancy slabs or slate or even marble

Oildriller 2
Do not bother with them get some good slabs, have a look at your local builders yard, bed them in with cement and just use cement for the joints...I did that a few years ago and thy are standing up to the test. remember and have a row in front of the fire to save sparks etc. from getting on to the floor.
