loss of apitite

Recommended Posts

Hey guys before the warm weather both my dogs ate well, they were both in fine condition and health. But since the hot weather they've gone right off their food and arnt looking so good. They've been wormed and are wormed regulary. Ive tried changing the food and tried feeding at different times of the day, as ive always fed my dogs at night before i go to bed. Never had this problem before, is there anyone who is having the same problem? What can i do to stimulate appitite?

Any advice would be greatfull

THANKS RS

I have this problem with one of our Rotties :icon_eek: . Once it warms up, takes ages to eat and then doesn't want to know  . When the temp goes down, he's off again.

This could be the same with yours? Let's see what the others have to say.............Al :drink:

rabbit slayer: I know this might ound obvious, but are they getting less work now, in the warmer weather? And if they are kenneled outside then they won't need to eat so much as they did in the winter as they're not burning energy keeping warm in the kennel.

Though when you say they are'nt looking so good, what do you mean exactly?

By 'not looking so good' i ment that they've lost lost alot of weight, but i think you've hit the nail on the head by what you have said. They are kenneled outside and they are being worked less, but their out every morning and night to have a run over the dunes and the beach to try and keep them fit.

I just put up this thread as this is my first summer with them really because last year they were only pups, and was just concerned about them losing their appitite.

Thanks very much for the advice you put my mind to rest :drink: , always better to ask if your unsure i suppose.

P.S any advice on keeping them tip top in the summer months?

Once they are fully grown, they usually tell you they need less, by not eating as much.

In the warm weather, my dog eats less too, all part of dog life ect, nowt to worry about, unless they show sighnes of illness. ;)

Frank.
