whin 463
saw small jills jack in dead of winter up hills just left rabbits as they were fed up getting kicked hence i like dog ferrets a bit more meatier to take the kicks , the trick is to not keep ferrets if they keep jacking ,saw all sorts of animal jack and some roll over as they have had to much graft , jills usaly jack before dog ferrets if worked hard as they havent the weight power to take the bull by the horns especaily after chrismas when rabbs are breding and would rather fite it out , not had places as much lately were ferrets are run ragged , to get tired 1 Quote Link to post

whin 463
whose rambo , another thing when i used to ferret for cash on large estates , i worked seven 4 in morning 3 in afternoon at times , only an inexpierenced handler doesnt no when to say hes had enough , red once you ferret starts moving of live rabbs or coming of them a bit you no hees either tired not hungry or had his best , i wouldnt hang on to them to long or use them sparinly drop there weight a little bit as some are to fat to be real keen to do a job, usaly 3 or 4 is when a ferret starts slowing down if out 3 or 4 times a week Quote Link to post
BazB 37
you wanna borrow mine for the rest of the season mate? Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
I suppose it's like terriers, do you have room in your kennel for the bayer / mixer type who you can call out after a half hour, after you can get a bolt. I have a wee jill, who will stick and kill her rabbit quite happily and then you can depend on her to walk out and see whats going on. You can however send her back down and then dig to her, as she knows the score. I've got other ferrets who are b*****ds for sitting there like a numpty ragging a dead bunny. None however will leave a living one running about. I guess doing that is either jacking or doing a half arsed job. Quote Link to post
whin 463
ps a feret was bred to get a few rabs we made them slaves to us not every one wants to get kiked about three times a week for 2 3 4 seasons in winter etc Quote Link to post
