darbo 4,774
as above you will get mixed responces. some people wont touch them. some people will have owned some good dogsout of the kennels. the puppy farming method turns some poeople right off them. i owned 2 in the late eighties from pups. to be fair 1 had very good potential but died at 2. the other made a decent dog no world beater but a good honest type. had him 17 years. Rake aboot 4,935
They are not from working collies,, but are from ex track greys,, You will get a million opinions on them,, I`ve got one, and he`s coming on niclely,, seen a few good workers from him in the past,, but most agree that breeding working to working is the way to go,, I just liked the collie x , so took it,, hopefully he`ll turn out fine.. but you`ll soon find out what lots think of him,,hahahaha Quote Link to post
freelance 448
Had one in the early 90,s. A three quarter bred beardy border bitch, which turned out to be a really good little dog taking all british quarry although only roe in the venison steaks. But a lot didn't turn out to good, some mates had some that were none too clever, temperament issues and such like. Hancock churned out that many dogs that sods law said some had to turn out good. At least you got for your money a genuine half cross or three quarter ect. A lot of people only bought one because of plummers clever marketing antic,s with his books, would i have another ? NO i wouldn't, not knocking collie bred dogs as i have one sat in my run. But i would rather have one that had been bred from proper tested and grafted parents and that's were Handcock dropped a bollock by using untested stock. But love them or loath them, they have always been about, and as Bosun has said you,ll always get many mixed responses 2 Quote Link to post

whin 463
there eighties dogs early ninties , bred better my self but not every body has the dedication to do that , Quote Link to post
chilly 59
i got one , she is my first lurcher , still young but is showing promise , my reasoning for getting one was simple , new to the game had no connections in the hunting community wanted a collie x and thats what you get , i decided i would take the risk i wont lie tho and bull shit it is vary unlikely i would go for a second , the reasoning for this is not that i have any concerns of the possible working potential of his stock , but that i dont agree with the farming methods used , and now that i am making new friends in the hunting game i dont think i will have any problems in sourcing a pup from good working stock bred the way they should be worker to worker , and bred for the purpose of producing good working stock only, and not the £££ that his are bred for 4 Quote Link to post

canaliculata 28
His new beardie 'wilson' is from working stock....arthur seems to be throwing out some good uns... I know he gets slagged for puppy farming, but the amount of litters i have seen of a late from private sellers have been rubbish...and most of them havent even been keeping a puppy....just breeding for money. Definitely go worker to worker though, just got to be very careful who you end up getting one off. Can be good mooching dogs. My old beardie/border xgreyhound (7/8th greyhound) was a belter in my eyes. Quote Link to post
