Country Joe 1,411
My pup had a slightly sore eye, i looked up Penny Taylors book who recommended Fucithalmic, i took him down to my vet, who had a quick look at the eye, and prescribed the Fulcithalmic twice a day, I was charged £18.95, On line i could purchase it for £4.82, but you need a vet prescription, that you ask your vet to fill out, are vets willing to do this, and any ideas what they would charge? chook1 184
Vets have to do it - they cant refuse if you ask for it, as for charging, depends on the vet, some charge a few quid - some up to a tenner. If it was 18.95 including appointment, then tbh it would probably end up costing you more, to buy on line, if that was just for the Fucithalmic then i think thats a little steep. tote 856
Laurie what was the total charge from your vet? If it was £18.95 for the consultation and the Fucithalmic I'd say you done okay. But if he charged £18.95 for the Fucithalmic and then a consultation fee you should ask some questions.
Country Joe 1,411
probally put it wrong, as it includes consult ion fee which is okay, but if i needed another tube, i would need a vets prescription, or would the vets just sell me a tube.
chook1 184
If you need another you would still have to make an appointment for your dog to see the vets, as they wont prescribe it without seeing the problem first, tbh the price you paid is actualy cheap for the eye cream and appointment. Think about it - you would end up paying for consulataion, then prescription and then the price online, could end up costing more.
Country Joe 1,411
Thanks Chook point taken, yeah your right, would probably work out more expensive on line.
