ferreterno1 0
i dont know if any one else has had this but one of my ferrets which i bought as a light silver is now nearly a polecat here are two pictures of her before (both the same) and now also my mates hob ferret (totally unrelated) was a polecat and last year molted out silver and white (not a very good photo) his sister also done this. very strange would like to hear if anyone elses have done this Edited April 14, 2007 by ferreterno1 Quote Link to post
mole catcher 1
those of us that have kept ferrets for yrs will know that each year after a moult a ferrets coat colour will change, each and every year of its life. so sadly sometimes a young silver grey will look like a polecat in colour as it gets older or after a moult. i have a plecat jilll that is starting to look a little like an albino, apart from its eyes of course. Kay 3,709
Yep as MC sayes they change with each moult, some change dramatically & some dont Quote Link to post

Ossie 11
my old silver jill gets progressively paler every year. if she lasts out another winter, she'll probably become a BEW. my sandy hobs head & neck go white in winter (if it's cold enough). i've never heard of a ferret getting darker as it got older though. well, not that much darker ! i've seen polecats get a bit darker as they get older, but i've never heard of a silver turning into a polecat Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
I bought a really pale silver kit who at nearly 3 years old is now a very pale looking polecat: his silver coloured offspring also darken as they mature. Quote Link to post
