Rake aboot 4,935
Jeez,, surprised this one still comes up Saps is SHIT for a ferret,, they are meat eaters,, and are also Lactose intolarent,, meaning milk is very bad for them,, it used to be fed through ignorance and poverty,, or both,, but there is no need for it today,, do not feed saps,, at all,, if you don`t have the proper food for a ferret,, maybe you should not keep them,, this is a general statement not aimed at anyone,, but if yer reading this,, and the hat fits!!! 4 Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Some people once thought the world was flat. It was because they were ignorant, under educated on the matter, or just followed the trend. Same with the bread and milk. Quote Link to post
The one 8,477
Think they just got fed on that because any rabbits they caught where a luxury for big families at that time and they couldn't be spared to fed the poor ferret . Maybe these days with the shortage of rabbits guys are looking at alternative food sources but saps isn't it Quote Link to post

Guest cookiemonsterandmerlin
Intrested to read that some of the ardent defenders of the the no locator thread saying in the old days we never used this or that but use the same line in the milk @ bread thread . Bread and milk was use across the country along with no locators and we all now know that slops have no place in modern ferret keeping along with some other out of date practices in the ownership @ working of the modern ferret. It stand to reason if cant fed proper food to your ferret then maybe you should not keep them. And the same could be said for if you cant afford a locator then maybe you shoukd not work them. paulus 26
sops theres a blast from the past, feeding sops was very common people believed if you only fed sops then the fert would not know what meat was and wouldnt lay up after a kill, they also cut the cannine teeth off or used a muzzle thank god all these practacies are now resigned to history Quote Link to post
