reddiesel 8
Absolutely devestated by the death of our Tri Coloured Jack earlier this evening,I was out with him and our Parsons "Buster" earlier. They were both foraging around in the undergrowth we had taken the same route over the years without incident and I,d call out to them every minute or so just to keep them in order as you do,we got out of the parkland onto the path and although it was only Buster that was there at that stage I wasnt worried as Jack was always a few minutes behind I heard a dull thud in the distance but at that stage it didnt click. To the right of the pathway is a slope full of rabbits in summer,it stretches about ninety yards up to a main road up above, the dogs normally go in here but never up the slope they never go near traffic always stopping to heel till I give the signal and over the course of those years a false sense of security has been allowed to develope.I went onto the slope calling out his name but no reply, then I knew!if I get to the top of this slope and look over the barrier and he is not there then he is safe I thought;I got to the top peared out in the darkness then I saw him dead in the gutter,I lifted him covered in blood and carried him home,Buster is asleep and my partner in the bedroom sobbing.Tomorrow I will bury him, there is no bad dogs only stupid owners. sallie 67
you brought a tear to my eye and only just before xmas the same happened to a friend of mine in Wales but the guy came around the corner knocking both her dogs down neither were killed outright and he still drove off. Very sorry for your loss and sometimes what goes around comes around the driver should be feeling very guilty. Quote Link to post
