Excuse me, but Ive seen enough over my 65 years with dogs to give a valid opinion matey! And belive me when I say, not all BIG dogs run daft, some have sense with their speed. I have dogs now over 85

Got to disagree. based on my experiences of the breed. Ive seen good bulldogs on pigs in florida and Oklahoma, fair catch dogs mate, Ive only seen two Am Bull crosses over here in the UK, both in Engl

The 1st x bull/grey is a dog that as suffered so much from people chucking any old bull to any old grey and therein lies the problem, thats why you hear so much shit spouted about the x. Its the same

Good bull cross CAN turn, and they have more drive, more determination, more jaw than any other cross going. Now dont get me wrong I keep and work other types of lurcher, as there are benefits to be had from different strains. Dont knock them, they have their place and will no doubt keep it with those that need that special something. Ive seen them take all quarry day and night, I mean all quarry, from rats to boar and red deer. No other dog will give that much to its game than the bull terrier

your right dogs can turn,,,,but i know some heavy well built dogs cant turn,,,,,,,it all depends on the speed they reach and height dont post on here if ya dont know,,,,,ive seen the old fashion bully types cant and some can,,,but ive seen many not turn and whack straight into tree or fence,,,,uve answered ur own post it comes down to determination,,,,yet a similar dog can fall in that trap themselfs,,and be half a ton lighter and built and be as skinny as a ss whippet lol

Excuse me, but Ive seen enough over my 65 years with dogs to give a valid opinion matey! And belive me when I say, not all BIG dogs run daft, some have sense with their speed. I have dogs now over 85 lbs in weight and they can turn enough to stay on the quarrys backside. Breed blindness is a curse matey, just because you have not seen any worthy of note means nothing. I wouldnt slate your wee whippets, they would sprint the socks off any of my lurchers, but I will tell ye straight, they aint going to floor the meat that a big dog can, and if your trying to say big dogs cant catch bunnies, well, I fart in your general direction :tongue2:

65 years my fecking arse blah blah blah

Watch yer tongue ye old barsterd, Im deadly with my walking stick, and dont think you will out run my new electric chair!

Yes Im 65

My brothers got an American bulldog and he's got more drive and intensity than any bulldog I've seen put to a greyhound in 10 years, finding a bulldog of good quality is as rare as rocking horse shit. The lurchers off these american bulldogs are good, they appear to be quicker than the bull x

I've seen bull x screaming like a banshee when toe to toe with a fox, your point being?

Got to disagree. based on my experiences of the breed. Ive seen good bulldogs on pigs in florida and Oklahoma, fair catch dogs mate, Ive only seen two Am Bull crosses over here in the UK, both in England, and both were no way as efficient and clinical as a bull cross, one was a white bitch, which jacked later that season. When I saw it it did do its job, fair play but it was a bit floppy cock in its methods. Just based on my personal opinion of the breed in general, they make a good general hunting dog, but for hard work they are shadowed by bull cross. There have been several imports to the UK, I know as the chap I hunted with in Oklahoma has sent several here, and they are about as good as you can get. If you want a toned down bull cross, fine, but not a killing machine for serious graft.

my point being american bulldog greyhounds are jacking rubbish as are a lot of general bull crosses didnt say the bull cross was anything less as with any cross ye have to do ye home work an buy from right stuff an to me an american bulldog aint the right stuff if you know diffrent then youve seen better then me pal

In full agreement with you Halty Lad, I owned a fine looking first cross dog, sadly thats all he was, a fine lookin dog! Seen others go too and never seen anything that made me think that they could come near a good bull cross... ;)

Most bulldogs over here are fat barrels and even more lurchers are bred from them. My mates litter all were useful animals. My bros dogs intensity and drive is amazing for such a big dog, puts many to shame. The American bulldog over here is a pretty recent craze and true working relatives of dogs over the states will be much nearer generation wise than the working bulldogs that came over here in the 80s. Gameness is so hard to find and it is easily lost. Offcourse if you can find a genuine bulldog to cross to than that is the dog to have
