FightTheBan 1,147
Do what Sallie said...get him a nice teddy bear. Water treatment always works for me, but I havent 'bought in' a young dog so they are usually schooled long before their bark is irritating. FTB Quote Link to post

lapin2008 1,587
I dont think the teddy would work though in all honesty, they are not gonna see it as company only as a toy so will only keep them occupied for a limited period? mine would just pull the stuffing out of it and lie down on it or pull the bits out into the run area The electric collars are good, you can also set them on different power levels if its only young. There is nothing wrong with water either the dog soon associates what its doing wrong with the consequence its not like your soaking him for fun. Quote Link to post
snowman 37
i wouldnt use a coller mate cause if you want the dog for earth work this could affect the dog ie when you coller dog to enter it dog may not sound when it meets its quarry when i get a pup in i use a hose and a good stern voice takes a week or two but it works for me mate atb snowman Quote Link to post

jarv5116 57
I had dog last year I got when it was 13 weeks old. It yapped most of the day and night no matter what. you walked it for a hour bring it back it would sleep for 10mins then start again. Tried hose, tried thumpin the run, tried water bag, teddy, radio, walking it till its legs would fall of for pup. Some dogs just wont stop yapping no matter what you try mate. If it likes kenneling up you maybe need another dog or you may part company. I live on the married quarters in army camp I had get rid of dog, my ate lived at end of road 12 houses away and he had shut his window, My mate next door moved to the front room. I put up with it for 3-4 weeks then Had no choice had to go Quote Link to post
Big bald beautiful 1,231
Done that,as I said its easy during the day.a few words or water pistol.its when he is alone at silly oclock.ive never had trouble with dogs being noisy at night, only ever had small pups or a dog that was used to lone kennel life Quote Link to post

MAIN MAN 277
If a pup has never been outside then you have to expect some noise! try starting the pup just an hour or two at a time first.. then a bit longer and longer but still use the water when you need to. Like i said there is nothing worse than a wake up early. You got to be cruel to be kind sometimes. Terriers are hard headed little fuks an stubern as hell!! and they need to no there place otherwise they will ruel you. I took on a russell bitch a few years ago and her first night here was her last as she barked all night non stop so she went back,, but as a ruel you can turn a pup the right way with the right handling. The pup I got was about same age as you pal. Think the problem was the dog was running around garden with other dogs all time. Then I got it and tried kenneling it up, just wouldnt happen. Couldnt kennel it up with another dog cause it was to rough at biting and I was scared other dog would end up killing it. Gum tree and Pet home. Quote Link to post
lurcher330 2,301
try getting a bottle of cola ,put a hole in the lid and shake it ,then spray the little fcuker with it ,it will then spend hours licking all the cola off when it becomes sticky Quote Link to post
