sallie 67
It would seem he is lonely. Can you not keep him in the house ? over the years i have tried the following a nice teddy bear that he can snuggle into and cover both over with a blanket, i know there will be those that say its daft but it has worked with my pups. Also if you have a blanket with the smell of the mother. before settling down in the evening a good long walk and a small feed. Final my pup that i have kept Buster was like that but he has grown out of it now he has found his way in life with us. All the best and hope you find a kind solution. Quote Link to post
dogger 100
try putting a ticking clock in with it if it hears something similiar to its litter mate/mothers heart beat it might quiet it or a radio down low so it thinks someones keeping it company a shock collars not the best thing to use on a pup as its still a baby at 7 months give it a kids teddy to keep it company hope this helps 1 Quote Link to post
jonesy 111
A clock or radio is a good idea, also has it got anything to beat the boredom in a kennel, pups tend to busy themselves with each other, sometimes a few daft chewing toys helps. Quote Link to post
taz2010 1,297
hose pipe mate soon as he starts howling give him a blast with hose pipe he will soon shut up Quote Link to post
MAIN MAN 277
I must agree with the water treatment, i have had the same problem in the past! and there is nothing worse than a noisy dog for you and your naughbours, you have to stamp it out asap before it becomes the normal for the dog. It might take you a few days now but as soon as he starts give him a bucket.. Quote Link to post
toffee 76
the hose always worked for me Quote Link to post
lapin2008 1,587
I have had and still have the same thing here. With mine its about company as he was lonely I put him in with another dog and this sorted the problem, however the little shit being in the house with me during the day through a recent illness has got used to being in the house again so i am having to go through the process again. Here are some of the things I have tried /or am currently using although he is now kenneled with a second dog; Radio anti bark device (doesnt trigger off when the dog howls though only barking) hose pipe fixed and pointed at the front of the run Got a second hand electric shock collar, it one of the good ones so now when he starts i can nuke him from inside the house Good luck, it can be a knightmare with howling and neigbours as they can be fine when they think your in the house but then go off it when you leave. I have the local parish council sharpening their pitch forkes over here because of the occasional whine/howl Quote Link to post
MATTI 34
An empty tin with marbles in, tied with string down to your house, each time the pup howls rattle the tin. Shock collars & blasting it with cold water could break his spirit & make him even more nervy. We're not even allowed to do that to the Tali-Ban, ha Quote Link to post
Mrquinn 106
It's coz its bored and docent wanna be away from you put it in with another dog don't wet it that's tight As f**k it's freezing out there will end up with wet bedding Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
The anti bark collars worked for a mate but i think the full on electric collar is a bit much for a 7 month old pup .They do one that sprays lemon in the dogs face when it barks .Water is a sure way to stop it but you have to be firm and try not to soak the bedding . Big bald beautiful 1,231
b*****d hides in his bedding box, so I cant get him with water.he shuts up during the day if you shout, but at 2 am I make more noise then the dog. Quote Link to post
