Caught speeding at 93mph, any advice?

Recommended Posts

I was caught doing 89.93mph over 3/4 of a mile on a single carriageway almost 9 years ago. I had to appear in court and was given 5 points, and ordered to pay £160 fine and £40 court costs.

Not sure what you could expect for your speeding offence though, good luck anyway

EDITED to say, I tried to plead guilty by post as the court was in Grantham and I lived near Newcastle, but was told I HAD to appear in court

Leave 10 mins sooner in future, never mind the law, if you'd had a blow out at that speed, you'd be f****d and your family would have had a great Christmass wouldn't they. Some of us have already had

It's about time the laws changed in this country, the 70mph motorway speed limit is pathetically slow considering the quality of modern cars. In most modern cars it's perfectly safe to be doing 90mph

I think it`s about time the emphasis was taken away from what the actuall speed was,, and start concentrating on whether the speed was suitable for the conditions,, THAT is where the danger lies, 160

i just got £60.00 fine and 3 points 45mph in 40mph zone. trying to get through platt bridge wigan quickly.

Platt waz is a 30mph zone - i normaly go through at around 40, never been stopped yet,

Have only been done for speeding once, that was going through wales on the M-way,

think i was doing about 85/6 something like that, got a letter through the door - just asking me to send my license etc

had pay a 60 quid fine and got 3 points, that was about 5 years ago, im just more carefull now of when i pick up speed.

Guy in my work got caught doIng 59 in a 40, he was advised 1 mph more and he would have had to appear in court to fight for his license, seemingly if your doing 20 mph or more over the speed limit you need to fight a case why you shouldn't be banned, don't know if that's the law or not just what I heard about this case, you'll be hoping its not, let us know how you get on.

Not steep enough if you ask me, see things in a different light when you've got kids, and it not then. Somebody needs a kick up the arse.

if it was dark tell them you were just concentrating on the dark conditions and just did not realise your speed be very apologetic and make no excuses that are crap hold your hands up.i did not get a solicitor and pleaded guilty .my report said i pulled away aggressivley from a police car doing 125 mph on my motorbike.unfortunatley i caught another one up.police sandwich .i got 6 week ban and a £200 fine no points .that said i learned my lesson it could have shut my business.i sold the bike.got another one now but ride much slower its never worth it i don't bounce as well as i used to.first offence it would be harsh if they went hard.

Yep am the same one :bye:

She doing fine - not had her out on anything though,as shes torn her chest muscle and slightly pulled the gracilis muscle,

so shes being restricted, have let her do some marking and a little bit of bushing whilst out on walks, but nothing more than that

shes only young, so theres plenty of time for her.

i just got £60.00 fine and 3 points 45mph in 40mph zone. trying to get through platt bridge wigan quickly.

You shouldn't have been done at all the law allows 10% + 2mph above the posted limit before you get nicked to allow for speedo error. Therefore, you can get away with 46 mph in a 40, 57 in a 50 and so on.
