Aaron_butcher 17
I'm getting a second lurcher and going to keep it outdoors and build my own kennel and run. I'm going to do concrete base, single skin 140mm concrete block structure and just have a small sleeping area out the back. This is the first dog ive kept outside so do i need to consider a cavity wall with insulation? Should it be a completely open front (except the sleeping bit). And what material for the roof? Or anything else I've missed. Any help is well recieved. Thanks, Aaron. Quote Link to post

cmccmc 24
How are you doing for drainage? Decent drainage will make your life much easier. Quote Link to post
Aaron_butcher 17
Cheers gaffer, ill make sure to render it. Drainage wise I was just going to have a very slight slope to the front of the run so i could just hose it out. I cant connect it to a soak away because my soak away is about 100 yards from where im planning to build Quote Link to post

the big chief 3,099
no it will be very cold in the winter we have a brick garage my bro built with 2 bob holes ate the back and wooden boxes in side and that is cold i have king span heat lamps the lot in mine warmer than my house lol Quote Link to post
Aaron_butcher 17
would it not be worth doing 2 skins of 100mm blockwork and insulate the cavity rather than the one skin of 140mm and no insulation? Quote Link to post
