hedz31 1,308
down to trainig and entering to do two dogs on there own , all this pulling i would soon put them strait as pups , long before they saw a feild , wouldnt have a mad pulling dog full stop not a joy to watch or walk with , That's bollox whin all dog's are different as are crosses etc ive got a pup who walk's perfect and doe's everything fine my 10 year old lad walk's him in the day now ive just started to walk this pup on his own on the lamp and the dog is fine but ye stick that lamp on something moving the fecker would pull a house down to get to it and is even worse when ye turn the lamp of and dont let him run it, granted he is getting alot better everytime he is out but they do learn from on the job experiance saying ye sort out a pup before it enters a field is horse shite taking them into the field and them pulling is just progresive training which all young dogs do stop crabbing folk fella ye really are starting to look daft All dogs can be trained dogs that pull and jump about are dogs badly trained its easy to make excuses the dog should be able to be worked loose and only run when told if not then you,v not put the time and effort in needed and a young dog should already be steady before taking it into the field. All dogs are different but many owners are the same with the same out of control dogs and the same bull sh8t reasons for being unrully its the breed he,s highly strung he,s eager the one short cumming they have all got is shit owners who have no idea how to train a dog but blame the dog anyway . Ok ive got 2 lurchers both different crosses 1 has bull in it 1 doe's not they were both entered the same schooled the same before entering and both by the same person 1 was steady as a rock from pup and entered spot on and the young dog is highly strung but is coming round as he get's out more he is becoming steady how do ye explain that ?theres no excuse the dogs were just different temprement and both exactly the same before entering Quote Link to post
whin 463
another trick you need plenty game to get a steady dog plus long walks with no game so they dont think walks mean game , neve rhad qdog master me yet had some done my head in but some are better worked alone till mature and steady , its about knowing your dogs and plenty exersise fredom training ,the [bANNED TEXT] type of training , 4 Quote Link to post
hedz31 1,308
you obvisly never done serous dog training hedz , ille take you out hedz with three dogs 60 odd pound and 50 pound will they do my tits in no why cause i ran the ass of them in there youth so they no its no big deal its called progresive entering something 90 percent dont no what to do ,at times , i have a ,pup 6 months to young dogs in there prime theyre of leash lamping one on leash does other pull much no , cause ive got him sorted out as a youngster , im not crabing but dont tolerate dogs pullin me about , thats not a poaching cur or hunting dog , why daft hedz explain ,ye how were they trained the waterloo cup dogs tell me that , had greyhounds the same after a six week stint very biddable ,if i had adog pulling serously we would have a fall out till its rectified ,had quite afew powerful dogs but never had a problem with them , as im severe with them at times but got away with animals Whin i am talking about a pup ye divvy they all enter different and are different temrement's ye cannot say every dog ye have ever entered was perfect before it even entered a field and watched other dogs run game or before it seen game itself on the lamp ye are talking daft dog's settle and ye mould them to how ye want them in the field with on the job training as young dog's not before they even go into a field talk sense ye daft old bugger 1 Quote Link to post
whin 463
some dogs are more strung and will only settle with hard work long runs to get the wind out them , or nites with big walks but no game to winde them up believe me it works , as if they dont there not there, some come to first season some second season , some dogs only work with one man one dog scenario , but they can be bested but not a pleasure has to be when young , big walks at nite etc its conning them realy ,if you have well trained older dogs young ones rarely put a foot wrong if you have headcases they winde young dogs up , saw me lamping stubble after stuble intil dogs knacked , weekly by second season starts to realise whats the fuss , either that there on there back knacked its thin line 1 Quote Link to post

robwelsh 354
well like you just said to hedz, you do your thing..what you should of started off with whin, is what you think the lad could try, before starting off on the wrong foot, just tell the lad who started the topic what is best for you and maybe he could tried it, instead of saying people are doing things wrong...again lol Quote Link to post
whin 463
dont think so if i back tracked the dogs would be no good end of , the guy who started the thread i would say get pup trained on his own like i do and enterd on his own , leave the other dog in house , if the pups not catching etc by a year to 18 months rabbits then well its either not going cacth or not a place to enter a pup , my pups coming six month shee knows the score now so just need to let her grow as she is getting prey head on time to tyrain her back a bit 3 Quote Link to post
whin 463
on a more serous note why is everbody buying lurchers without doing the ground work , then they all come on and ask questions that realy only happen in the feild of trail and error ,there several dog obeidence classes specalists in dog training these would be the guys to ask Quote Link to post

whin 463
i would recomend anybody who wants to learn about lurchers and training to serously not come on here but get an old mag edrd in the early ninties a guy called marc c glenn he trained a dog and was pretty handy at it there was weeks of training on it. his pup danny he got to feild trails etc an d it could fill abag to , or d slieght etc they have alot more knowledge than a computer at the dog game and are not as spiky as me at times , i think j darcys bringin a book out lurcher training etc Quote Link to post
whin 463
whats the end cathcer when there 2 3 4 5 etc only trained 2 or 3 dogs that would work leashless as a pair and could stop one but wasnt good for the dog , as it stopped his natural instinct , and the traing i done to get there well was better put in the feild hunting coursing, game , lurchers were never ment to be trained to the standard of obeidence coliies even tho ive done it , as you take some of the best months of them entering them etc had 2 i could stop one with vioce one with wistle any were but spent more time traing them than huntng so detremntal at times Quote Link to post
