hilly 6
I go out with my Ferrets and purse net a fair bit but one of my main fields hedgerow is all brambles etc. When I go onto the field at night and try to lamp it all the Rabbits can run from one end of the field to the other and safely bolt home before I can get to them. As Im new to long netting can anyone help? I didnt know if I can set the net open and then sit and when they are out in the field pull a cord and set the net then chase them into it? Is that how it works? Any help would be good. Mark. Quote Link to post

Im not sure if I can do what I want and thats to set a net in the day between the field and the brambles go back at night or sit as far away as I can and when the Rabbits are out in the field pull a cord drop the net and then walk the them into the net. (is this a drop net?). Thanks for replies so far, Mark. Quote Link to post

3175darren 1,100
A good longnet, draw a map of the field, put a true north arrow on the map, and wait till the wind is up, a good dark night, check the map to see if the wind is blowing towards the hedge where you intend to set the net, reky spot first, you say theres alot of brambles, make sure your net wont come into contact with the edge of em,you could get some hazle sticks and make up,a couple of quick set nets, if you are under confident setting in the dark, practise is the name of the game with longnets and the dark . good luck darren Quote Link to post
