The reason why a lot of us irish lads, release our quarry is because we hunt to work our terriers! NOT to kill. Yes some people run them for lurchers but some of us only work terriers so its not abou

I agree that's why the standard of working terriers over here is higher as they are dug to on a regular basis on quarry that is very well educated. It's a better test and it's been proven.

Lads get a grip we are all in the one game so should be all on the 1 side, and who gives a toss what way the fox is taken out,let it be by hand or lurcher or draw dog, everyman to his own.

Took a bit for me to learn to grab quarry as a kid. I did get bit. My dad was pissed. I can remember him saying... "Way to ruin everything. You're mom wants you to stop hunting the hounds and terriers and that'll ruin all my fun." Ha Ha No sympathy. I've never been bit again and I grab everything alive, usually no gun and no big dogs. There have been times I really wished I had a bigger hard draw dog. I'd keep one. I haven't used locators though so I am often a few feet off when I dig.

some men have no acess to firearms and when your 5 foot down and the terrier is slaughered its nice to have a drawing dog to call on

That is when a terrier man shows he is not just a man who keeps terriers.

A knife to kill them or a spear, bit of a juggle when you got more than one in the pot (would love them to let us use a .410 pistol). Some other restrictions but nothing too bad. Only heard of of 1 case of TB & that was probably just a rumour!
