wi11ow 2,657
Hi, I have been offered a border terrier pup to work off a friend who bred them for his own use and now he has given me a bitch out of the litter. He doesnt want it going to a pet home but a working home that been the reason me and two other lads got one for free. MOTHER DONE BUSH WORK AND RATTING. SIRE DONE GROUND WORK AND RATTING. MY QUESTION IS THIS : WOULD YOU TAKE A PUP ON, THEN TRAIN IT UP AND THEN INVITE THE MAN WHO BRED IT TO COME ALONG AND WATCH IT WORK ? lets here other deals lads have had of pup deals with mates and reason lads on here WOULD OR WOULD NOT do it between them selfs. thats the ony way pups go to good homes Thats it, Only thing i ask when i give a pup away is no matter what happen for what ever reason if they part with it it comes back to me, And if it makes a better dog than the one i kept maybe a line or a pup at a later date, Thats all id ask thats fair BUT not many keep to there word bin givern some nice pups well bred and allways offer something out of what ever i bred back JUST TO SAY THANKS Quote Link to post

Cleanspade 3,322
the thing is. if a pup is gifted. their are allway obligations. its just that they are unsaid among'st friends. as it doe'snt or shouldnt need said. its simply a matter of honour. good friends do right by each other. i think the main problems arise when you go away from close friends. allthough i would'nt take on a terrier with strings attached. i would attach strings to a terrier i gifted outside the circle of friends i have. use of a dog. or the offer of a pup. and of course first refusal if they decide it doesnt suite. does that make me a hipacrit ? BIG G wheton machine 1,594
th way we work it is if u gift a pup to a person and for whatever reason they must offer it back to you 1st before even trying to get rid of it. another no no in my book is someone trying to sell the pup on after u gave them it for free just to make a few quid. the best way we work it is if it works and they breed it then id get a pup from the mating no charge and then all is squared up Quote Link to post
