Romany 1,065
I must admit I love hunting alone..also been part of small profit hunting groups, but there is just something about being out in the dead of the night with a dog or two.. 1 Quote Link to post

dmick 22
i always get a high after a hard dig or getting the game back to the car after a succesful night on the lamp when im on me own but then i also enjoy the craic out with the lads , seem to be getting older & crankier nowdays & just want to be out alone with me dogs so i can be totally selfish & go & do what ever pleases me like turn off the lamp if the quarry is heading to far away from the car . bunnys 1,228
hunting alone is what i live for there is nothing better . iv been in the numbers game also in the my dog is better than yours game. todays hunting as become a challenge to most to see if they can become the most talked about . gone have the days you could walk up the street with rabbit in hand and old faithfull by your side thinking what a good day you have had and a wonderfull little dog you got.. proving nothing to no one hunting has changed like all things change but sometimes not for the better. my kind of post very similiar minded fella never needed to top an ego has this seems to be rife in the job now .atb bunnys. iworkwhippets 12,717
I think maybe it,s a generation thing , too many nowadays equate hunting with lamping , catching big numbers , having super dogs . They don,t have the hour at dawn and dusk experience , the patience that working with ferrets teachs you , they have no idea about the habits of thier quarry , they don,t recognise trees or crops they pass every day . in short , they just don,t get how wonderful it is to be out with a dog in surroundings you understand and appreciate . Every trip out for me is an almost spiritual experience that fills me with a sense of wellbeing , I pity those that will never get this. A man after me own heart, Top man Quote Link to post
iceman001979 1,316
Hunting alone is ok if your just going local but if your going 100miles away its a lot easier if there is two or 3 off you.Easier on petrol,on the work load (carry game),digging, dogs, equipment etc etc. Quote Link to post
