milegajo 595
Absolutely sublime pics. Incredible write up. I've long considered methods besides airgunning and what an excellent case you make for lurchers (had a rescue one a few years back, boy she was hard work but it was definitely worth training her up). Moll. 1,770
Absolutely sublime pics. Incredible write up. I've long considered methods besides airgunning and what an excellent case you make for lurchers (had a rescue one a few years back, boy she was hard work but it was definitely worth training her up). Especially when you are lucky enough to have such good company Miles. Working dogs on land like that is fantastic, but having as much of a laugh as we did makes it even better Quote Link to post
milegajo 595
Well keep it up Moll, its moments like that which make life so sweet. 1 Quote Link to post
inan 841
Apart from the weather, the word 'bleak' was apt for today, very strong winds, and rain, with the odd hail thrown in for good measure I had a very kind invite out from Russ who has permission on a farm there, Gary, Millet and Mark made up the other humans with Meg, Coco, Xena, Terra & Boo making up the dogs. It was a day of mooching, letting the dogs do there thing, and some ferreting with long nets, my very first experience of this. The company was fantastic, really easy going, salt of the earth folk who made me feel really welcome and part of the gang, with heaps of humour and sarcasim thrown in for good measure I just wish the weather had not deteriorated even further, we were out a few hours but the time flew by, and whilst we walked back to the cars for a cuppa the heavens opened up thoroughly soaking us to the skin, so we decided to call it a day, no fun for man nor beast then. No end of day photo, no way i was dragging dogs and humans back out of the cars in that weather for it, but managed to get one or two pics through the day, not in the best of focus though due to the lack of light, but they still give an idea of our day. We had a good total of 17 The land. Some sequence shots first.... This was embarrassing. Boo marked a rabbit in the dry stone wall, Gary spent ages dislodging stones to get at it, out it shot with Boo in full flight, and it got away into another wall Spotted and started by Xena, and ended with Xena making the catch. Gooo on Boo... Sneaky rabbit.... And it's head to head, Coco & shortarse.... Black Meg gains a furlong.. And Coco has it... Owwww no she hasn't, Gooo on short arse A late entry from Boo.. Short arse takes the lead again.. Look at that length of stride And the winner is........ Meg, with Boo asking..."Giz a bite, go on just a little bit" Boo's first experience of a net. And Terra's Other pics of the day... Pleased his dog is good at retrieving because quite frankly, he was crap Many, many thanks for the generous invite, and the smashing day. Great pics ,and some fine sport just my cup of tea, preferably without the rain. Quote Link to post
