Large numbers of rabbits caught do not neccessarily mean that you have a good / successful / efficient ferreting team of people / dogs / ferrets. The rabbit density of the area and the ratio of rabbits seen / found to ground and those caught need to be looked at.

aye you could be a ferreter without a clue and catch a hundred if the land you,re on holds the bunnys or you could be a fookin expert and catch nowt if the rabbits ain,t there

agree. been out on invites a few years ago. good numbers regular.easy sets to net no snags.flat pasture land short grass. on the other side of the coin been onto land in woodland brambles, tree roots etc no easy netting. a good marking dog a absolute must.decent sized warrens holding very few rabbits.

or you could flip that and say someone who doesn,t have large numbers to go at out of neccessity becomes much more adept at finding and catching bunnys

i certainly dont think i am a hunting god far from it. a example i man 1 rag arse terrier ( no lurchers allowed on the land). hard sets to net low rabbit numbers. dog marks well.the result a few hard earned rabbits.2nd example 1 rag arsed terrier me and a 67 year old man. good land easy to net etc. result 20 plus rabbits.

We are not talking about lamping. We are talking about ferreting. Two diffrent things, and many dogs see a lot more bunnies at night than day, due to being able to access different land during the night / day.

 

I was thinking more along the lines of ferreting / mouching, there is plenty of land where to be honest a fairly inept net layer, with no dog, and half arsed ferrets could bolt 50 bunnies and catch 20 of them. Then there is someone with a finely tuned team of man / dog / ferret of takes a dozen in a day out of a dozen rabbits found above or below ground all day. The latter man would probably take 40-50 from the first mans land. The first man would be lucky to catch one on the latters.

You see I can catch 100 rabbits a week if I felt the need.So wipe that chip off your shoulder mate.
