http://www.doom9.org

has heaps of info

the ripper/decoder called DVD Decrypter is probably what you are after, BUT you HAVE to turn the automatic check for updates off on it, as SOme compaNY took over the guys site after taking him to court etc, so u dont watn them getting ur IP address etc

DVD decrypter, then DVD shrink(makes the files fit on a single layer dvd disk) is probably the way to go

I use all macs so can't really help p***y.

One of the lads has signed up to:

http://www.screenclick.com/

Gets 2 DVD's at a time and we just rip them as soon as they arrive and stick them back in the post to get the next 2.

There's a free trial period there as well.

If you go to:

http://www.versiontracker.com/ and search for: file sharing

you'll see 100's of apps.

Limewire isn't too bad - it'll take a long time to download a decent quality movie and when you think that even a single layer DVD is over the download monthly limit for Eircom's broadband (last time I checked it was 4GB) - you're going to end up paying a fair bit for the film.

ive tried them all and some are good for certain types of format and some will work for others, but the one that works on most of them is dvd shrink which is a free down load from the "afterdawn" site which roughly speaking breaks it down to record and then works automatically with NERO 6 to record it ! This I have learned from alot of wasted money on other programs. Sometimes after all the pratting about and wasted discs and the price of the programs I think its a waste of time. :realmad:

A lot of the dvd,s made now are dual layer so you need a dual layer burner drive and the discs are expensive. When you work out the price of the drive and the programs it comes to about £100 and then the price of the discs and your time and pulled out hair and the discs you knack up trying to record it . I,ve given up its cheaper to buy copies off the market, they will give you another if its poor quaility, and other things like coursing dvds you can buy new, how many dvd,s can you buy for the above price. I can,t be bothered with the hassle.I also spent loads of cash on crappy programs that did not do the job!

Mark all original movie disks are 99% of the time dual layer and called dvd9 the software generally rips the disk and then compress it down to fit on a single layer disk known as dvd5... Ever since dvd writers have been available the copying software has been available too, most burning software needs a decryptor either a program that rips and decrypts the disk to your harddrive or the program I mentioned anydvd does it on the fly, no copying to HD first.... then just burn with your favourite burner.. I like clonedvd because its fast and easy... but its illegal to sell these two types of programs together...
