mainly the reason there are black and coloured rabbits in the country useually around estates is because the same simple reason you see white pheasents is because the game keepers used to use them as

f**k all to do with game keepers. It's just variation / mutation of the agouti coat which is made up of all those colors.

how did they get there in the first place then if its got f**k all to do with the keepers as u put it ???? and also if there was the colours or colors as you said why are they only in certain areas when black is a dominant colour and the natural colour of uk rabbits is gray ? get looking on google boy

Tbh it is probably a little of both, the genetics of agouti coats will throw up different colours such as black etc, otherwise domestic rabbits would all be one colour, and if a black rabbit bred to another chances are you will get some black rabs if not the majority of the offspring will be definitely more likely to produce them, and with the in-bred nature of rabbit breeding, would explain why they appear more frequently in certain areas

but also due to the vast different colours of domestic rabbits with light brown, ginger and black being almost everywhere im sure a few game keepers and local residents have also contributed, which again thanks to rabbit breeding would soon cause certain colours to show up

Do you have any understanding of genetics? Or natural selection?

Agouti (the colour of rabbits fur) is not one colour, it is made of many hairs of a variety of colours all mixed together. As rabbits breed very quickly, and their populations are quite dense, they tend to show up possible genetic mutations / variations quite readily. These variations include rabbits with fur that is almost all of one of the colours that make up their natural coat.

They occur in some areas more so than others, as these tend to be the areas with very large healthy populations with an abundant food source, this is perhaps natures way of evening the balance (by making them easier prey), or just the law of percentages meaning that you with more rabbits you get more 'freaks' and when / if these freaks breed, then you start getting more and more funny coloured rabbits.

You also get it a lot in mice.

Fair play. I'm sure you do get the odd one that has escaped / been released. But having caught those kind, they do not have the same body shape / type as wild rabbits, especially when you open them up, and they no way run the same. Most likely your one is just a random freak, they can occur everywhere.
