Harris Will 3
Well i took "rico"out for a nights lamping last night first time ! there was a good few about and i even got 2 squatters but he just didnt want to know... yes is weight was a tad high but he didnt even try to put a good flight on any i noticed that he was looking up at trees all the time(which got me worried) hes been doing ok in the day but last night was a total waste of time apart from me trying out my glow sticks and recalling him from a decent distance...next time im dropping him a good bit more than he hunts in the day even, sadly i took no pictures has i was a bit pissed off,the best of the night was a keebab in hereford town and that was a bit shit £7.50 ... Hey Milo, Lamping has its good & bad times just like daytime hunting. I wouldnt drop him too drastically. Maybe take a small amount off & try him! Have you tried dragging a dead one for him? I was out tonight with my male & he had several good chases & hit 5 of them but just didnt get his footing right! Most frustrating... Especially when you find yourself running around after your hawk who is being towed around ontop of the back of a rabbit, only for it to get free & make it to cover!!! Keep at it mate & it will pay off... Will Quote Link to post
milo 74
Cheers will,i will drop him slightly just before next time i go out lamping with him, the moon is down this week comming but its going to be hard to run the lurchers due to ground frost so maybe il be lamping all week with the hawk...hes bound to take to it next time "fingers crossed" 1 Quote Link to post

milo 74
Reached the farm at 7pm wind was a touch strong and light rain but nothing too bad expect the bunnies were on thier toes soon has i entered the fields for a slip... God knows but my hawk just aint getting it ! 2 bunnies he should of caught in the open easy but he just wasnt looking in the right direction.. well we decided to call it a night has i didnt want my hawk sat up a tree has he got very wet after being out an hour and half, and on the way back a rabbit gets up from (roughly 30yds) bang he baits and hes away beating toward the bunnie law and behold the bunnies darts thro some pig wire fence and my bird follows still on him and into a apple orchard where he goes to ground ... What i cant understand is he tried the hardest one of all and coulndt see the easy ones ! WHY..."specsavers"comes to mind in the day he would have taken at least 4-5 of them bunnies last night with ease.... Quote Link to post
