just got a 2nd hand mk3 m locator with 2 collars from a friend,he only used it once and couldnt get to grips with it, but im having difficulty using it? it picks up very well in search mode, but when i switch to locate mode it just shows 8ft all the time and then the signal dies, ive used my mk1 box and that picks the collars up clear as hell, and its only been 3 or 4ft down ive dug to them using mk1 box. when i try the mk3 box with the ferret above ground it works fine, its everytime the ferrets under it wont pick up right? ive used sony batteries for the collar so kno cheap shit, and a new battery in the reciever, anyone else had this prob?

There is no volume control on the MK3m, its for locating, what you do is point the locator bolt upright down at the ground after you move the switch from search to locate, and as you get nearer to the ferret you turn the knob sensitivity down as you dig closer,
