Another question how could i train it not to run off down any fox holes, as this would be something i really would not like it to do.

Take it out were there isnt any fox earths...or buy a dog from non foxing parents, even then the dog may still go to ground

You have more chance of getting a non foxing plummer then most breeds ,i have had plenty that wouldnt go to ground even at two yyr old and tied up watching a dig.if you only want a brilliant ratting dog buy a plummer

if the dog shows any interest in going to ground invest in a locator and collar

make sure the dog wears the collar whenever its off the lead and remember to make sure the batterys in the locator and more importantly the collar are working

If you do go down the plummer road be sure to ask how much ratting they do,i wasnt the best place to get a ratting bred terrier from as I didnt do enough, but some lads I know are iut 4 times a wk day and night ratting to big numbers.good luck finding a pup

Well you see another dog that i like is a beddy x whippet, whats your opinion on them?

Only seen them on rabbits but I bet they would rat well,terriers are better if its among rubbish and hedges but out on open fields a beddy whippet would be good

Well thats good because aswell as rats i'd like to go for rabbits and the cross isn't that big so it would fit nicely in our utility with are old lab. When would you say is a good time to buy a pup ?

Pig boy i live in Wiltshire And if you want I could come around to where your pigs and chickens are with my 15 year old daughter young jack Russell terrier and smoker and show you and your grandad what the crack is. We were out today as part of a rat pack on a pig farm had a cracking day
