... you can give a rifle to a child and they will wipe a place out...

And you give some adults a rifle and they couldn't hit a barn door with it :)

you dont get what were saying , as for me shooting rifles pal , i was chose to shoot for my county at bisley when i was younger in the army so dont preach your rubbish to me .

. the fact is i exspect ive probably shot more than you!

When did you get selected to shoot at Bisley? Was it after sniper training school or after your selection for the SAS? Liar!!!!!

Why would your regiment get you to shoot for your county? Unless you made it up!!! You've just lost what little bit of credibility that you had.

for a start i have shot guns as well as dogs. i use dogs to flush to guns sometimes when needed. killing range of 30 - 40 yds depending on type of quarry or birds etc. i have no issues with rifle men

Guns are for failed dog men hahahahaha

Any dickhead can wipe fox's out with rifles takes skill with a dog to do it properly.   Ps guns are for gays

i have both shotgun and dogs used to do alot of lamping with rifle with father but found it boring as f**k turn the light and bang thats it no sport . I am now of the oppion that it no very safe or sporting to use high powered rifles at night as not every one is senseible in the field shooting at eyes in the distance which chances are is a cow or a horse. I think that the dog is far more sporting and safe to use at night because if it is foxes you are after then the fox would have to be at most 80 yrds away before you could slip the dogsand if is quarry that you done want to run i just turn off the light the dog stops and the quarry keeps going no big deal if it was the gun well there is no stoppin a bullet once fired. Another thing is that there is no wounding with the dog it gets the quarry or it doesn t i have lost count of the amount of foxes i have seen hit in the arse or the leg and stuggle away before another shot can be fired of course this would be kept quiet low with good marksmanship but at some point it will happen. I shoot game mostly pheasant, woodcock go with the father deer stalking( Not old enough for a licence for a high powered rifle) an i work all types of dogs lurchers, terriers and gun dogs but i find the dog far more satisfing than the gun and always will.

Shooters drive over everything near me which causes concern to farmers, who was "unaware" of me being there until 4x4 lighthouses started driving through their crops. CHEERS

Rifles just destroy everything unless in the right hands....

Running dogs make every species stronger and healthier....

Fancy banning it....

The tunnel vision on here has to be seen to be believed. No wonder fieldsports are under threat if we cant even manage among ourselves amicably. Its always the same idiots on both sides spouting the same old crap, should be ashamed of yourselves.

For the record I work dogs, ferret, shoot etc. I prefer the dogwork but thats my personal choice and doesnt give me preaching rights over anyone else.

I've got permission on a few farms near me to run the dogs through a friend who is a shooter through and through, he's came out recently ferreting and lamping with me and has really enjoyed this aspect of fieldsports he has invited me to go shooting with him which I will, 2 other lads, friends of his, who only shoot have came for a walk at night with the dogs and really enjoyed it, 1 of the lads is a farm manager and hs allowed me onto his land too. I'm looking forward to doing a bit of shooting with these lads ( I've only done a litle in the past) as they're good lads who enjoy hunting. We're all in the same boat, so to speak, there are idiots with guns and dogs, who make us all look bad, but there are also more decent people with both who should support each other in my opinion.

I've been out once and spent some time squeaking in a red but it wouldn't come close enough to slip so I moved on. Not 15 minutes later a shot went off and I knew it was the fox I had brought in. I met up with the shooters and had a chat. I wasn't pleased they got the fox but I didn't own the rights to it. What I was more bothered about was it being left in the open on a golf course for all to see.

I've had a think and I've been at this hunting lark, solo, for 27 years next week. I've always had dogs capable of taking foxes, I shoot rimfire and centrefire and have shot plenty of foxes. You state that you don't shoot and I see no mention of your dog being up to the task. Therefore, by your own admission, I've done more than you and thus know more than you.

My problem is people like you. I don't work terriers, I'm not young enough for all that digging. If they banned dogs working to ground tomorrow, it wouldn't affect me. I could carry on regardless. But, I'd do whatever it took to defend someone's right to do it, the same with any fieldsport. A lot of shooters took no interest in the hunting act when it went through as it didn't affect them. They are just as bad. Being stupid enough to think that your sport will be safe if you let another mans be banned is a lot of people's problem. I ain't stupid and also I believe a man has a right to pursue chosen sport without emotive and unjust rules being forced upon him.

you dont get what were saying , as for me shooting rifles pal , i was chose to shoot for my county at bisley when i was younger in the army so dont preach your rubbish to me . i have air rifles as well as shot guns and believe me in the summer i take my boys out knocking the bunnies over . the fact is i exspect ive probably shot more than you! ( coming on here giving it this and that). trying to tell us that its not easy to shoot vermin with rifles are you for real., what do you think your the only one who has done anything, the point i was making is that some people who go out with rifles get too trigger happy and dont think and wipe out a good area of game . not tarring all the rifle people with the same brush as there will be people doing it sensibly controlling numbers as quite often there will be the ones shooting any thing what moves. especially now i know areas local to me where deer are getting hammered just for pound signs and not for control

i used to have an air rifle would kill 5 or 6 every time i went out (and thats alot where i am) i wouldnt want to go out with it all the time its boring and dosent take alot of skill i shoot catipults alot so i doubt youre shooting more than me atall the bulllett guns have wiped out the hares in my area all for 5 quid a time a hare is one of the easiest animals to shoot out there give a big hand for the great white hunters never had a dog to catch a rabbit hare or a fox yet they wiped out everywhere GOOOD BOYSSSSS

i have been out shooting a few times and never really liked it. see i dont think its the same, i enjoy the course with dogs and this gives the quarry a chance. i think thats the only reason i took the the sport, for the exitement of the chase?.. however hunting is hunting at the end of the day and there are many ways of doing it.

have never had anything against a shooter as i said hunting is hunting and there are many ways of doing it.

Labspastic you aint done much foxing with lurchers have you if so you'd know how difficult the liitle critters can be, any muppet can shoot a fox from a window of the side of the road with a fox sitting at one end of the field or even one or two fields away, thing is you can shoot an educated fox but you ain't going to get him with a dog unless bushing in which they still have a chance of getting away with no guns! Sooner they ban rifles aswell the better or even better still! stop handing so many out to any old fool. Not every fox is a pest end of the day and I think they atleast deserve a little respect to get away imo

Maybe if dog were licensed the same way guns are there would be less half wits with dogs. You might kill more with a gun than a dog but you are limited to where you can go with a gun and where you can shoot. Some dog men/boys are indiscriminate in where they go and can do as much damage as any shooter.

This isn't a go at you mate but there are idiots on both sides. I've seen some good places wiped out by dog owners and likewise some places I used to hunt jealously guarded by syndicates.

I enjoy a bit of rough shooting but the place I shot over the dog was used for marking and retrieving and not suitable for running.

There's room for every one to carry on and bickering only divides us . YIS
