im getting my first dog in a few weeks and wondering how do you whistle train a dog?

its a black lab but i would'nt train in for a few more months because its will be 5 weeks next week.

Good man, about 4 months should do it! Get the pup working to voice commands first, then introduce hand signals, then whistle commands. Don't make the (classic) mistake I did and try and go to fast. Keep it simple and keep your commands consistent.

recall whistle /pups name, associate the two with good things ( food, play, you,) and the penny will soon drop, your right about the rest very slow and simple,

Get yourself to a gun dog training group, the one I go to is only a fiver and has helped me no end, its the best advice I can give anyone getting into gun dogs.
