Homeopathic remedy Urtica Urens 3x is the best way to stop milk production. Note: a high potency of the same remedy increases milk production. This really works very quickly and well without causing any digestive problems or dehydrating the bitch. Just what I have used over the years.

Epsom salts (Magnesium sulfate) often used do combat constipation, encourages water to stay in the stool making it softer. This might lead to dehydration which could possible reduce milk production but very circumstantial and dehydration never a good thing in my book.

Homeopathy, most people think this is based on herbal treatment but alas no. in reality its based on familiar magic, basically take something that brings similar symptoms, with a headache that might be a hammer lol, then take a little and add to water then shake, next dilute the water and shake then repeat 30 or more times until a dilution of around in drop in the Atlantic ocean. The water is supposed to remember the original hammer, bearing in mind water is a simple substance H2O and as such hasn’t a good memory lololol. It doesn’t remember any else it has come across in its existence!!!!!!!! This is then mixed with a sugar solution and formed into a pill or occasionally just put in a room overnight with some pills to absorb the waters memory!! So you end up with a sugar pill that contains no active ingredient, not that the ingredients would cure a headache in the first place.

Basically its magic not medicine, designed as a tax on the gullible.

Sandy: for once I rise to your bait   But seriously, whatever the scientists may say about this particular branch of 'alternative medecine' I have proved time and again that Urtica Urens really does work: I made a mistake once and gave a bitch who insisted on still producing quantities of milk even when her pups were 10 weeks old, and I gave her the wrong dosage of Urtica Urens: the next day the poor bitch was bursting with milk, uncomfortably so, and I had to put the pups back on her to ease her suffering. I then gave her the correct dosage (the low dose of U U) and she immediately, within 24 hours, started to produce less and less milk.

You can 'dis-prove' all you like, but in this instance I know what I saw and the results. I have also used U U to help increase a bitch's milk, using the high dose tablets, and the result was just as obvious. Just because something doesn't appear to have any scientific value/grounding/evidence doesn't mean that it doesn't exist..........it could just mean that science hasn't yet found a way to quantify certain things in this universe.

I've not bred a bitch in years but what you suggest seems to work in most cases. I was not really adding advice on the original problem rather commenting on Epsom salts and homeopathy. In the case of the latter its not that science doesn’t understand it, science understands it very well and has tested homeopathy and it failed miserably. I was just adding a little common sense to the subject; it is just sugar pills, plain and simple. lol Edited by sandymere
