recovery after a hard night

Recommended Posts

how long do peoples dogs take to recover after a night of running. obviously its going to be different for different crosses and how hard there ran. just be nice to here a few different times of recovery etc. any tips to help recovery rates will be handy. i like to get to a river and cool a dog down this mild weather , bit of a rub down. good food , under heat lamp on the dog bed. next morning , when quite stiff and acheing from the knocks and bumps i give a bit of metcam(pain relief). any other tips would be great thanks

Most of that sound's good to me but i would try to keep away from the cold river with a warmed up dog otherwise he could cramp up..that is something you dont want happening especially if the dog is in full flight..the older dog here take's a couple of day's to loosen up but he has had a few knock's over the year's which don't help..he does seem to recover better though when i stick him in the mag box as soon as i get in if he has had more than 3 run's..then twice a day for 2 day's.

Mag box is a deffo for me, out of all the products on the market for dogs these days a mag box is what i've been most impressed with and wouldn't be with out,.. sounds like your doing everything right.. ;) if mines run hard one day, i'll cut down their running on the second day, because you can see the older ones are holding old injuries and not running on all 4 cylinders., it's common sense really imo.

electrolytes

That alone will not help in repairing Aching bones/tendon's and muscle...it's good for the dog to have some after a hard night to replace lot's of depleted mineral's but other stuff is needed..i have even seen me rubbing the dog's back and leg muscle's down with deep heat cream before today...just so they settle better the night after..and sometime's before a night out just to warm a problem area up a little..

lads whats a mag box?

Very very expensive dog crates!!!

The magnetic force produced is to weak to penetrate beyond the skin,

magnets don’t have a therapeutic affect in the first place, the theory has been tested and failed.

Going by their sales talk if it did work ‘based on basic biochemistry’ they would do more harm than good so it’s a good job they don’t work lol..

Another tax on the gullible.

The link below has some info and a very good discussion follows it by some knowledgeable people.

Obviously yourself and others think that the Mag-boxes are of no use then Sandy? We have one and imo they must do something lol? because like Slips dogs our dogs can't wait to get in the Porta -Mag..they queue up for 1st in haha...do you have one yourself? I've used them for a while now and my father-in-law was one of the very 1st to have one for the Grey's a long long time ago..he still uses them today and the dogs are successful..is it down to the Mag? well i'm not sure? I can't see any harm though? What i will say is put a dog in on number 6 for a week or more for one hour per day...take a look and you'll see a BIG difference of that i can pretty much assure you? ATB Andy.
