Fran74 1
I've used the Newport branch to buy an HW80 in January 2011. The guy who served me was really helpful and patient. The gun was cheaper alright, but wasn't Hull Cartridge imported, which is fine for a springer IMO, as one can generally fix a springer himself if something isn't right with it. But, when I got back home, I chrono'd it and was running at more than 13 fpe with Daystate FT. I had to grind off a little bit of the mainspring to get it right. No biggie, but .. you know where I'm going. I don't know if this could have happened with a regular import. That's my experience with them. Cheers Fran Quote Link to post
Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi Fran. Lucky you checked it mate. A lot of new shooters could be caught right out in that situation, and end up in real trouble, as most will not own a chrono, and would reley on the rifle being legal straight from the shop. It dosnt take long to stick 10 pellets through a rifle to see what its doing over the chrono. I think every rifle should be checked on a chrono before it leaves the store with its new owner, just my thoughts mind you. Bill. Quote Link to post
dogvixen01 34
i have had 2 bad experiences with this shop.one concerned a pair of waterprof boots which leaked .i sent them back and it took me weeks to get a refund .the other problem was a blitz lamp which was received with no switch mounted in it .when i phoned the shop to say it was not working they said have you tried knocking the switch on ,i explained there wasn\ t one on there and in fact there was an x marked on the lamp which had obviously ben put on it to show a defect from a previous problem.result lamp had to be returned for replacement .no apology and no refund for the cost of returning the defective one .result i have not had any furher dealings with this firm.maybe i have just been unlucky. Fran74 1
Hi Fran. Lucky you checked it mate. I think every rifle should be checked on a chrono before it leaves the store with its new owner, just my thoughts mind you. Bill. Hi Bill, I agree with you. I firmly believe that having an airgun and shooting it without periodically checking its performance is exactly the same as regularly driving a car without a speedometer. Besides, a chrono is an invaluable source of information: how do I just start Chairgun without knowing at what speed my pellet is going? How did I choose those pellets in first place?(granted: accuracy comes first, then speed IMO). So I don't understand people that spend a grand or more on a rifle and save fifty quid for a cheap combro. Sorry if this got out of topic, sorry to hear that Dogvixen, bad luck I suppose, but then again I don't see you trying a third time and who can blame ya? Quote Link to post
