1888andybhoy 7
Hi lads, I'm applying for my FAC at the moment and I've got to the bullet quantity bit on my FAC form. I'm applying for a .243 and a .22 rimfire. I will be using the .22 for small ground vermin and the .243 for Fox. When filling in the bullet quantity bit is it a total amount of bullets to buy for the 5 years of my licence or is it for 1 year or each time I buy bullets. I'm stumped on this bit. Also what would you say a reasonable quantity of bullets would be to apply for. And one last thing. Where do I apply for a moderator on the 2 rifles and do I need a reason to apply for them ? Many thanks. Andrew. Quote Link to post

Any FEO who tries to insist you need club membership when you've demonstrated good reason to hold is on a hiding to nothing. Quote Link to post

JonathanKent 16
The allowances vary from person to person on my .17HMR & .22 I have hold 1500 and buy 1000 on my 22.250 I have hold 250 and buy 200. The following is an excert from the BASC guidlines on FAC application: "For .22 rimfire the usual quantity would be 750 or 1,500 rounds, depending on how much shooting you do and how easy it is to get fresh supplies. This will allow you to buy another 500 or 1000 before you run out (see Question 21). For serious target shooters or rabbit controllers the required quantity may well be much greater so that a good stock, (all of one batch number so as to maintain the rifle’s zero), can be purchased at one time. For centrefire calibres it is more usual to have up to 250 rounds per calibre in this section, which allows the purchase in good time of further supplies of ammunition. Your favourite brand, bullet weight and bullet type may be difficult to obtain so enter enough to ensure that you do not run out. If you live a long way from your nearest dealer or if supplies are particularly difficult it may be sensible to increase the figure." The guidance from BASC is available here: http://www.basc.org.uk/en/utilities/document-summary.cfm/docid/6DADB271-D8D5-4EEF-B71B486DEB7A38C2 Hope that helps. ATB Jonno Quote Link to post

RogerTheCat 3
My .22 is buy 200 hold 500 When the FEO (Devon and Cornwall) visited she asked me if I thought that this would be enough bullets. I told her if I shot 10 rabbits a week 500 bullets would last me the best part of a year, so I did not think I would need more. I also told her I wanted to hold 500 so I could try different makes of bullets to see which my gun prefered she seemed happy with this. Quote Link to post
