if you have had any experince previouse litter helps i spend hours looking and watching for little trade mark signs of the perents and if you now them.....makes it a lot easier ..........but as old re

I don't think anyone can pick 'the best' ..it's whatever catches your eye ,and at the end of the day,it's down to who's got them. Some pople know how to bring out the best in a dog, and some don't

  • if yo breed of tried and tested workers and bred of dogs that are not got to much diffrences of size ie 24 to 27 then your in for a shout, dont find it to hard to pick a decent pup but there typey were is mongrly dogs with alot of terreir colie in them you could end up with big corgi looking runing dogs beddie looking running dogs ,i picked the biggerst strongest dog for a mate this year hees 5 months about 23 well balanced a great pup my female is 22 stronger ,but clever ,i think if you bred of proper running dogs without to much , wastage youll not go far wrong i can see pups three generaitions back etc in dogs ,as ive saw all of them ,the main thing is they are developing and got strong feet and plenty leg room ,if you have kept a type for years and no the parents and further back best way to go

my last pup i chose kinda stood out from the rest of the litter......when they were all called back into the pen, one of em ran the other way and hid under a deckchair peering out thinking no one could see him......so he came home with me....he still runs off and hides and ignores me at 18 months.lol

Well my first dog wasn't a difficult choice lol as I diddnt know my mate had a litter but by the time I found out he only had two bitches and a dog he was keeping back for himself left but I diddnt want a bitch so said cheers but no thanks but he did something I diddnt exspect he said well how about you take the dog I was keeping and I'll have a bitch , which I though was really great of him , the thing was i wasn't told the exact breeding I hadn't seen the pup or anything but I couldn't resist as I know he breeds good stuff ,so I went down not knowing what to exspect and saw the pup and I knew I wanted him lol so I asked the exact breeding ect and took him home that day , I'm so glad my mate let me take the pup he was going to keep .

like poachers said you cant pick the best one all you can do to increase your chances of getting a good one and cut down on litter wastage is breed the best parents proven worker to worker and raise as many as you have time for that you like the look of as pups. i go for things like confidence attitude and energy levels dont like shy nervy or dopey looking pups or any that get bullied by there littermates allthe time i like a pup with a bit of fire in its belly its easier to calm a lively pup down to your level than get a nervy one to come out of itself

Its hard if you don't breed the litter yourself and go in cold, usually a litter of 9-10 pups 1or 2 are really the only ones worth keeping. If a friend bred the litter its a good chance he'll steer you in the right direction. If you do go in cold what i do is temperament test a shy dog is a dead dog here, then confirmation for the job it will be doing, coat next and then color. I use to never take a whit dog as it got me in trouble but where I live now it doesn't matter.
