iv got a pair of leggy russels that are off hunting parents of which both are barking on fox hunting cover, now the dogs i have are comming up on 9 months with nothing done bar some ratting and some mink, my intentions are to try and get them working for the comming season, i just wanted to know if you got any tips to get them barking on the sent? or will they just have it in them? and if so maybe some tip to increas thier ability to help them preform as good barking hunter's.

ps hunting with terriers in ireland is not illegal.

Some terriers will yap and others won 't, just depends on the individual dogs mate

if your friends have a few hunting terriers that bark in cover let your young dogs hunt with them. some will naturally bark and some won't. hope they work out for you all the best y.i.s, sionnach

all my young dogs run with our beagles and i think it helps them come on and learn to give voice when on a line in cover.atb

Russels being of a yappy nature ,lol,will yap naturally .Its stopping the little feckers thats the problem!

 

Only messing mate .Hunt them as a pack and im sure they will all learn of open up as soon as one does ,following by example . Just dont gee them up too much in the early stages .

ive got a 4tr old terrier thats mute in cover but yaps his head off when hes to ground

there is 1 of them dogs around hunting with no sound until he goes to ground, he's a cert in a hole but a pain in a big cover when no body can pin point him,
