Ideation 8,216
I have only really been out with three / four pure whippets. But just speaking of them, i really like their attitude and approach to working. Especially daytime, they have a great nose and really high prey drive. Also really good in the house, very loving, loyal little dogs 3 Quote Link to post
panther82 4
I had 2 mate worked day and night not just on rabbits 2 bitches and my next dog might be a whippet.. stevemac 433
Not sure about UK working whippets They seem slightly smaller and lighter boned than the dogs we have out here, The ones out here are great dogs and get used on every thing. Mine is a happy addition to my pack hes a real thinker always positiong himself right to make the catch as a fox leaves the cover. Quote Link to post

CallumDonohoe 65
i thinkthere great little dogs a lad who i sometimes go out with has 2 and he goes out about 2 or3 nights a week they get about 10 15 runs between them wat would be working a whippet hard to you lads like about 30 runs a nite? and aslong as we keep moving they dont mind the cold just when we stop for abit they can start shivering abit great as pet/working dog just love cuddles lol Quote Link to post
wharrier 39
My last dog was a whippet crackin litte dog would face anything don't get why people think there weak or fragile mine could go all night n run the lurchers to a standstill but a guess its getting the right stuff like anything else I suppose but get the right one n condition it right be sound I know they have a short coat but mine never felt the cold while out either Quote Link to post
whippet 99 2,613
i have a whippet , what is shivering wreck. sometimes i feel like shooting it lol whilst lamping with her. good daytime, but ifeel whilst lamping she dont give 100 % at times. when worked with a little bobbery pack she fires into any thing. she stays with me because my mrs loves her. she does pleasantly surprise me sometimes, but i think every bobbery pack has a place for a whippet. as there not as fast as lurchers , daytime rabbits the lurchers will run on and when the coney turns and the lurchers over shoot it the whippet usually picks them up as shes a little slower. my whip is show dog bred but i work her hard, got plenty of wind, good drive , rips easily but a bonny companion and i will never be without a whippet Quote Link to post
