Bolting rats

Recommended Posts

Find a second hand chainsaw or strimmer thats past its best for its original purpose, remove the dangerous bit and attach a bit of heat proof flexible pipe to the exhaust, give it an extra couple glugs of 2 stroke oil and get cracking. I've had some great fun in the past but personally

I prefer ratting where I'm not left temporarily deaf afterwards if possible though.

That said, the chainsaw smoker can't be beaten in places where there are large numbers of rats IMO.

Ive a terrier same age and looking into smokers.. I'm still debating the rat attack ones, ther deemed bad on reviews but my permission will be on a farm close to livestock and I don't think a 2stroke engine revving away would be that much appreciated.. The fog machines have no gassy smell to them that's needed to get em bolting..

if you want to get started -- block the exit holes off and just dig a trench you soon get to em - if your just after a few rats with one terrier its a good way of getting a few with a smoker you can get more bolt than one terrier can cope with ..dont wait till you`ve got a smoker get at em
