simonrocco 175 Posted December 22, 2011 Report Share Posted December 22, 2011 well today me and my daughter desided to go out with the ferrets for a few hours this afternoon and as she had finished making her first purse net the other day she was keen to get out and use it she told me to keep it seperate from my nets so she would no which one it was we desided to take the dog with us for a bit of a ratch first and see if we could chase any rabbits to ground so we pulled up at our first location and got the dog out and left the ferrets in the car we let the dogs ratch both sides of this old road where iv got permission its a road with bankings on both sides and a bit of cover on both sides and a few sets to it wasnt long till the terriers put the first rabbit up but it ran out and across the field so we carried on up the road checking the sets as we went but we didnt get any marks so we moved up to an old allotment but again we got no marks until we got to a shed the dogs seemed keen on one hole but were'nt exactly marking it but because it looked clean we desided to do it i had fetched my 7 yrd longnet so i set it up round the shed where i had one slip the net the other week and got away i still netted the hole with the net my daughter had made cause i really wanted her to catch a rabbit in it anyway we put my polcat kit in it it worked it well but there was nothing at home so i tried to get it out of the sett but it desided that it was play time it took me about half an hour to get the little back in the box once i had got it out i put my old jill in just in case but there was nothing at home so we picked up the nets and moved to another location we did the same on this location we took the dogs round first we chased a couple of rabbits and got a mark on a 2 holer we carried on letting the terriers ratch about and checking the sets with them but we got no more marks we took the dogs back to the car and got the ferrets and nets and headed to the set we got a mark on i netted it up with one of my nets and my daughters net i entered the ferret in the hole with my net on hoping that the rabbit would bolt into my daughters net but no it desided to bolt out into my net i quickly despatched that rabbit and re-netted the hole and a few seconds later bang a rabbit bolts into my daughters net the look on my daughters face was priceless she was chuffed to bits her net had caught one and i was just as pleased as her it really made my day that she got one in her net i think if she had'nt caught one she would have been a bit dissapointed anyway there was no more at home so we took the nets off and moved on we tried a couple of more sets but there was nothing in them so we desided to call it a day as the light was fading and headed for home. hope you like the write up and pics atb happy xmas to all 2 Quote Link to post
